He was such a talent too. Every British athletics fan felt his pain, knowing that it was pretty much the end of a career that promised so much

And thats why sport was made. Teamwork from all sides to unite one dream.

Moments like this are just a few examples of the emotional highs and lows that make the Olympics such a compelling and inspiring event. 😊❤️

I remember the first time our teacher showed this to us, that was back in 2nd grade, I'm almost in college now and this still remained in me. Truly heart breaking

This moment, the Matthias Steiner medal dedication to his wife who had just passed, and the Miracle on Ice all stand out as iconic emotional moments from Olympics, both summer and winter

I would argue that its Matthias Steiner winning a gold after his wifes passing and dedicating it to her.

he's an experienced olympic level athlete, he already among the best of the best at his sport, yet he insisted in finishing, even with a torn ligament. respect.

very heartbreaking to go through all that to get back to the Olympics just for old injuries to crush your dreams in an instant. He actually was still in strong medal contention when his body gave out and it was very sad to see him on the ground dreams shattered.

A very emotional story has also been written by Steiner. The german strongman promised to win the gold at the olympics after his beloved wife passed away and he kept his promise.

The greatest gift a man was given by god is to support as a father

Fact is that the medics didn’t come and make sure he was ok, security didn’t care that his dad was trying to help his son, security tried stopping his dad a few times before he got to his son and this memorable moment was formed.

It is now September 2024. This still brings me to tears.

Why did he not get that special Olympic medal for sportsmanship, the Pierre de Coubertin medal?!?

I remember this when in school, my teacher always showed us the video occasionally to motivate us to always have courage and finish the task until the end

You have to respect the man for desperately wanting to at least be recognized by crossing the line, poor man did not deserve that
