As a 10 year alcoholic, the low quality sleep is one of the worst parts of the addiction. 4-5 hours after passing out, I'd wake up and be tired as hell but couldn't fall back asleep for at least another 4-5 hours of laying in bed feeling like shit. It's exhausting and there's no wonder why the shit ages you prematurely.

Nail on the head with the alcohol comments. I was a massive weekend drinker until 12 months ago when I got a Garmin and learnt about HRV and tracked my sleep. Giving up drinking was a no brainer. I now run marathons whereas I used to struggle to run a bath on a Sunday.

I quit smoking 15 years this august!
Alcohol 2 years ago this July

Don’t miss any of it

It’s no good

I think he's spot on about the rise in sleep trackers making us aware of alcohols effects. Ever since I saw it increased my resting heart the day after I reduced it, and now I'm 3 months without it and feel better!

I cannot believe I just recently discovered Chris Williamson. I wish I would've came across content like his or people like him in my life while in my 20s. We need more men with a platform like his. If you all have any people, let me know.

Wow! This video came at the right time. I've been sober now for an entire week after getting drunk consistently every night for the past 3 years now. Sleep was very difficult for the first day or two but once your mind adjusts to falling asleep naturally, you'll feel so relaxed and in the morning you'll wake up feeling extremely rested. I drank because I told myself I couldn't sleep without it but now I can see that it was the one thing preventing me from getting good sleep. Make the change, it'll change your life!

To me, vaping is kinda like how we use suboxone or methadone for heroin addicts. It's safer than using the street drug, and it curbs withdrawal symptoms, but it's still an opioid, just a cleaner version. Vaping to quit smoking is the same thing.

I recently gave up vape because it’s basically treated as smoking in Hawaii, the legislature has tried to ban it several times over concerns the industry caters to minors with flavored products. Apparently, lawmakers have never walked past the cotton candy flavored vodka at the supermarket. Nicotine patches don’t produce the blast, it’s more of a cruise.

Vaping saves lives. When you said you don’t see a point in vaping, the entire purpose and reason vaping was created was to help smokers quit cigarettes. And it is extremely effective at doing that. I smoked for 3 years and quit cigarettes in 4 day thanks to vaping. I’ve been vaping 5 years now and have had zero negative health issues. Not only that, I feel much better than when I smoked.

The question should not be “is vaping safe”, even though it is, in my opinion. And I will also add that not only is vaping safer, after many years of study, vaping has been found to be 95-98% safer than cigarettes. However, you are correct about nicotine; it is not the problem.

I quitted smoking and turned to vaping for 3 years and finally free from this habit, I think it's habit rather than Nicotine itself, during vaping the health looks pretty much better than smoking I could start short running from that moment, and now I run 2-3 times / weeks, thanks for Vaping

Started vaping about 10 years ago to get myself off cigarettes. Vaping was still very new, not many people knew about it, so I was one of the first (at least in my area).
About a year and a half ago, my health started to rapidly deteriorate, and in Feb 2022 I was diagnosed with leukemia. Three rounds of chemotherapy, one stem cell transplant, and a long year of recovery later, I am finally starting to feel normal again. No family history of leukemia, and otherwise I was in very good health.
Now, there is NO PROOF that vaping lead to my condition, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did, and I definitely won't ever be vaping again. Not worth the risk people. Take Care.

Great take from Peter.
Juul exploded in my college right around when I was 20-21. Knowing myself it was inevitable that I would pick it up at the time. Im only using on the weekends now but it is such a shame point.
I eat healthier than anyone I know, I powerlift, and have a background with triathlons. I will get this done but our generation got absolutely F'd when young america had almost quit nicotine entirely.

Vaping is much safer than cigarettes but I wouldn’t call it safe either. I personally had periodontal issues related to vaping. Since quitting, I have noticed a significant increase in my cardio and a significant decrease in my resting heart rate

I know it's tough to quit nicotine, but you can do it. Take that surge of energy you get once the cravings hit and channel it into your personal development. Whether it's physical exercise, learning a new skill, or listening to a self-help audiobook... the cravings will subside when you distract. And you'll come out a better version of yourself. Try it today.

One of the most cited(100s of times) peer reviewed studies from UPenn only did their study on ~20 subjects and used one single brand of disposable e-cig, and it was some no-name Chinese brand you've never heard of before. Definitely need more quality studies, preferably advised by someone actually knowledgeable on vaping that can have them test different voltages/watts etc.

Nicotine truly killed my drive in life. Nicotine is hijacking your reward system and you will be less likely to seek dopamine from positive things in your life. I've gone down this road for years and years and the best course of action is to raw dog reality.

I smoked for 10 years. Quit and got myself in very good shape over another 10 years. Started smoking again and immediately was unable to do my mt bike rides for fitness, Felt like I had a weight on my chest. I started using Juul to quit smoking. I know its bad for me but Im just as capable of riding my bike using the Juul as I was off smoking.

There are no combustible products in modern vape devices so long as your wicks stay saturated. There's no reason to believe it's completely harmless, but neither is breathing the air in an urban or suburban area. Every study not funded by a pharmaceutical company has concluded that vaping is at least 95% safer than smoking. In other words, it's probably not worth starting compared to another method if you want to add nicotine to your life. But, it is unquestionably better than smoking. And as a side benefit, switching from smoking to vaping doesn't feel like quitting. It just feels like you forget to smoke. After which, smoking is no longer a positive experience.
