The Japanese paradox proves that smoking is overstated as a cause of death in smokers. I will always believe that what you eat or don't eat is the number one factor in all diseases because food can heal you or kill you.

Smoking is so overstated as a cause of death because it's assumed that smokers eat processed food, drink alchohol, don't exercise and sit around and eat processed snack foods. That's what people will assume smokers do. Guess what? Alot of them do and they end up with metabolic syndrome and have a number of diseases that are more attributed to the processed foods they eat or the over consumption of alchohol and lazy lifestyle. So what finally kills the smoker? Heart attack, cancer, stroke or diabetes related issues??? Everyone will say, " he was a smoker and that killed him." We've heard that a million times. Not one person will say, " well, he ate processed food and drank too much." As long as he was a smoker, that's what killed him.

My point is well explained. The Japanese and some Middle East countries smoke more cigarettes than in the west and have low cancer rates. The Japanese have low lung cancer rates. The common denominator is both cultures eat healthy food and consume very little alcohol.

The cigarette issue is a political attack
on smokers. The history of attacking smokers goes back centuries and is highly political.

It's the food that will kill you before cigarettes ever will.

Unfortunately I smoked in JHS & HS. I quit 40 years ago and exercise approx. 5 days a week. Wondering if this affects my aerobic ability today and if my chances of cancer are increased. My father smoked a lot for many years, yet never developed cancer. He did contract emphysema though. Any thoughts?
