Hi Julie,
I asked this question, endlessly.
Not to "blame", any OD, but to understand the possibility of prevention with a plus lens, when at 20/50. I talked to a myopic Doctor about "this subject.
He had his own three children wearing a plus lens, for all close work, during all the school years!
I knew it was very difficult.
In fact it is totally out of scope for an Optometrist!!!
So I worked on the science of it, and agreed completely with him.
It is tragic that you can not help your own children this way!
I think both of us are myopic because no optometrist will pioneer this type of Scientific prevention for her own children.

I always ask that question of myself also.

Your, "cares", on the job, prevent effective prevention.
Even more serious and difficult, few people will understand self recovery, when still reading 20/50 on their home Snellen.

Reading on your side is horrible. I went from almost no astigmatism (-.25cyl) to high (>-1.0cyl) in a couple of years when I picked up the bad habit (newborn baby and was trying to keep light down and be quite at night). I have been lucky to reverse it by going back to normal position, lots of natural light, and using the reduce len method. (I only recently got into syntonics after reading all of Liberman's books --- which are more inspirational than informational). I am on many natural eye improvement forums, and your answer is the most common. At some point, most people get to a level they are comfortable with (normally something in the -2 to -3 range). It takes a lot of will power to get all the way to 20/20 when you already have good enough sight without glasses for a lot of indoor use.

Hi Dr. Julie,
An excellent question.
My question is this.
What are you doing, to help your own children with life-time prevention? If I consulted with you - that would be my question.

It has always been my feeling that ODs have an impossible problem, attempting to help people with prevention, when they are still at 20/50.
The "impossible problem" - is the person himself.
More power to Julie!

This is a great video! I would love to see your progression through the different prescriptions you have had over the years. Maybe you can do a video like that too!

Is there any chance of you getting back to 20/20 or are you just going to get to a certain point and not be able to improve from there?

Do you offer in-clinic consultation and vision screening? If so, how would I schedule an appointment?

I got 2 questions:
1 Do you work with patients outta USA e.g UK etc?
2. Can you improve a very high myopia I.e -10 and above? Is there any hope for such patients or all hope is lost?

Not a fair question, for Dr. Juile.
Once you start wearing a minus lens, you can not get back out of it.
