Start here kids... this is THE first thing to learn and memorize. Go slowly and take your time. Practice these every day and tell yourself in one year you’re going to be able to play these fluidly up and down the neck without stopping.

I'm determined to learn and memorized the Mayor scale all over the freatboard. I have watched several videos and this is one of the best, cleanest, well explained and concise lesson/guide I have found. The PDF is very well organized to have all patterns at a glance in front of you to practice.

Outstanding Chad? (Couldn't hear your name cleanly). Exceptionally well done and for me (a beginner) this really cleared up the confusion out there with shapes, modes, patterns and positions, etc. Thanks again. Brilliant. Really superior.

One easy way to remember these is that the patterns have names for them. 2 is Dorian 3 Phrygian 4 Lydian 5 is the relative minor scale for the key,

So i took a look on the eguid mini book very nice, and yet i would renornalise all the book with conventional approach for major, harmonic/melodic minor scales

1)giving 5 positions coming from CAGED SYSTEM
2)giving three notes per string which was done only for the major scale in eguide

I would love to see eguide enriched with this patters!
Btw thank you very much for your eguides one on CAGED system is the most comprehensive on the caged ive ever seen!🤗

Seems to me the best position for learning any Major scale would be to start Anywhere on the Low E string with the 2nd Finger, and you get 2 octaves in only 4 frets; then learning BY EAR that same scale starting with each different finger. Experimenting on every string the Major scale with every finger gives us the reason Why some scale diagrams are better than others. Suffice it to say, I already have been playing three of yours because they logically proceeded from the First scale diagram that I discovered by inventing it. I only hope developing speed is not the big obstacle to playing well because so far I play slowly. I can see the pattern of spatial relationships in every scale from any position and the trick is merely to practice long and hard.
Thanks for the video, saved it to my Favorite Go To vids. ciao.

Scale 1 in video = F# major scale in open position, moved around
Scale 3 in video = C# major scale major in open position, moved around
*These two scales are unique because they are the only two major scales out of all 12 that span only four frets.*
Scale 4 = almost B major in open position, scale 5 = almost Ab major in open position. Scale 2 could be seen as close to either Eb or E major in open position
*Eb, Ab, C#, F#, B, E connect on the circle of 5ths. The first and last in this group are Eb and E, only a half step apart meaning they can easily be combined into a single scale instead of two, so we get these 5 scales in the video* It all revolves around the unique conciseness of F# and C# major scales in open position!

So pattern 1 is actually f# locrian, pattern 2 is A Dorian, pattern 3 is b phyrgian, pattern 4 is c Lydian, pattern 5 is e aolian( natural minor) . Which is 5 of the modes of the g major scale( Ionian ) . It's easier to learn these shapes giving them mode names, easier to remember. Then all he does is start and end on a g note within these mode shapes .

Is there any reason to learn the major sales this way, since the 3 notes per scale patterns exist also? Does it help to learn both systems?
