Some banks, BofA, Citi and a few others let you do a balance transfer directly to your checking account. Not to many banks that still let you do that. He also most likely had either a high income so the DTI didn't effect him on the loan or he used a hard money lender which most flippers do. Which DTI is not a issue for the most part.

Story time: for a couple of years I was transferring at 0% interest between cards. Costs about $300 per transfer with 10k. I transferred from a card with a 20k limit to one with a 6k limit after paying down 3k. Hit my credit because utilization went up and almost had my interest for a house I was buying go up. Had to pay the whole card off to keep a lower rate for the house. This will wreck you if you tried it today.

Yea but this is only if you have high income and perfect credit. Most of us making 50k a year and having fair credit will get a card with little amount of open credit and extremely high interest.

Yeah and thank you credit for open a bunch of credit cards. Even if your Balance is maxed out for a month it will affect credit horribly
