Fun fact, doctor. The director of the Mad Max series was a e.r doctor, and the first movie was a passion project. The villians in the first one, was an actual biker gang that played for free on account of the director saving one of their friends.

Gasoline itself doesn't actually explode. When you see a gasoline explosion, that's actually caused by the rapidly expanding vapors after being exposed to a heat source (open, flame, spark, lit cigarette, etc.) They expand so quickly that when ignited, they cause quite the boom.
