Just got to end of film just saw the Australian part having been in our reserves in 1980’s having had veterans of Vietnam serving with me and also at least one Lithuanian in our unit I can only say to this gentleman thank you and we are lucky to have men such as these in our country, great movie 👍

This gave me so much understanding of my grandparents and grand grandparents who settled in Latvia(Baltic sister country to Estonia), but also were fighting under different flags.
My grandpa deserted german army, but I have no clue how did he figured out ways to survive and stay in the country.

As a veteran of the EDF and the son of an Estonian who served in the Four Helmets of Steel, I salute the Czech producers of this outstanding historically accurate movie showing the experiences of Estonians during WW2. Bravo well done, Thank You!

I love this movie! Although it is not a high budget movie but it deserve the BEST anti war mini series and it just simply DESTROYED all boring political correctness war (trash) movies. I will rank this movie my second favorite for now, the first one is a Danish war movie "April 9th". The truth about all sides, their history, ideas, ideologies, tactics, strength and alliances without bias, not what we leart in schools written by the winning sides. Fabulous movie. What an incredible trial of hardships. I knew a guy that was an officer in the Latvian Army and fought on the Finnish side when Russia invaded Finland. He got a job as an engineer working for Messerschmidt during WW2. His recollections were worthy of a book.

I grew up with an Estonian brother in law. Udo Palm. He was born just after the war. Udo’s father lived through the war. His story was that he was in 3 separate Army’s during WW2. Started out in Estonian army. He spoke many languages, so he was conscripted into the Soviet Army upon the Soviet invasion of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuanian. Then later the Germans were taking non Russian men into theSS when Germany invaded the Baltic states. After war he was in US POW CAMP. They kept him a long time as the US was checking all captured SS soldiers. I was too young when I met him in the60’s to talk to him about these times. But when my sister andUdo got a dog, Udo trained it in Estonian. So I know a couple words in Estonian. I know how to say. SIT DOWN, SHAKE, COME HERE in Estonian.

Brilliant film. Stumbled on it by accident! All he wanted was to be a free man in his own country. Sad these small countries had to take one side or the other which often split their loyalties to themselves.

My father knew one veteran of Estonian Legion who had served in Alfons Rebane's battalion and had made it to the U.S. In late 90s he visited us in Estonia and told his story, it was very similar to this one.
