Ants look for different types of food at different times of the year. Sometimes it's sugar, sometimes protein, sometimes grain. You can mix borax with corn meal & sugar to get both the grain & the sugar in one treatment. For protein, mix a very small amount of peanut butter with borax, fill bottle caps with it, & place something over them to make sure birds cannot get to it.

thank you for explaining why the dry compound is more important. I was gonna make the typical liquid solution, but I'm glad I found this video

Thank you. Woke up to lots of small ants on my kitchen counter, and I just made this bait (both dry bait & liquid bait) and placed it on the counter. Had a similar problem last year, and the ants were attracted to some cough drops I had in a cabinet. I would have never thought ants would go for cough drops, but they do! Update: The ants appear to be ignoring the water bottles, so I put honey in a bottle cap & mixed a small amount of borax into it, and the ants are going nuts for it right now, while ignoring the sugar/borax mixtures in the water bottles.

I used this method in my home in the Philippines. I used cotton to absorb the solution. I placed these small cotton balls around my home. It worked

Trying this tonight in my RV. I have pets, so I don't use poisonous items. I know Borax and salt kill fleas and their larvae, as the salt breaks the eggs open to die in the Borax. Hoping this does the trick with the ants. Will keep you posted on my RV ant problem after using this trick. Thanks.

1. If you use a bottle on its side, place small holes in the bottle for the ants to get in (use a sharp hole poking tool) but not large anough for a bee to get in.
2. In it to the ground using a long U shaped wire (like that of a clothing hanger) around the middle of the bottle, so it doesn't blow away.

Hey Jag, great video! Just what I was looking for instead of putting stuff in a little bowl like I've done in the past. This lets you reuse plastic bottles, and it's much faster with no mess. Thanks, boss!

FINALLY someone who understands that it takes more than one method.. I also use peanut butter w borax and pack it into straws, , put 2" long pieces around.. The pets can't get.. It works for the protein eaters.. pancake syrup is another thing to use with borax.. ALL items are cheap and easy to make..

This worked like a charm. I had ants in my pantry and couldn't get rid of them. This attracted every single one, and in a day they were gone. Fantastic!

Thanks, Jag! I’m definitely going to try this. The Terro ant baits work pretty well, from my experience, so this sounds like a sure winner!

Great video! Going to try both solutions next to my tomato plant. Ants are bad this year. It’s so dry they have all come up looking for water and discovered my struggling garden. Lol

Thanks buddy, I wish I knew this trick 30 years ago when I owned a home and got problems with ants. Anyway, I found "Terro" which was a life saver. Now I know the trick how Terro works. I will pass on the knowledge to my grandchildren and others.

The medical mask stops direct transfer of germs and particles. But it isn’t sealed around the whole perimeter, so dust can still get around.

The liquid solution is just fine. You don't need to make a dry solution. The ants will regurgitate it and still feed it to the queen. I've used just a liquid many a times and it's wiped out whole hives

try corn meal around the mound put a bucket over the mound and the corn meal underneath they take it to the queen and she will distend and die as the corn meal will expand 10x when hydrated

This looks very clever and effective. I can vouch for the store-bought boric acid ant controllers.

For any of you concerned about the dangers of using borax: borax is safer than table salt. It takes just about 2 tablespoons of salt to reach a lethal level for the average person but borax takes about 3X that. It’s a pet & child friendly solution to part control.
