I've been using this method for years now. It works great. I use a cotton ball in place of the crouton. It actually works y'all.

I've used several different ratios of sugar to boric acid mixes over many years. 6 parts suger to 1 part boric acid seems to attract ants the best. I just add enough water to make a thick paste and put it in a jar lid.

I haven't used this mixture, but I want to try it. I use Terro. Same methodology really. Squirt some on paper and set it out. Then the key is patience. You gotta accept the ants living with you for a couple of days.
