Apollo missions- 22 billion
Worldwar two- 4 trillion
If nasa have military funding the dreams would succeeded a long time ago

Can we agree that their naming scheme is amazing??

It would be pretty cool, would give the US a motivation to invest in space

Agree with soenderup21, mass to orbit is a better representation of the viability of a nation states space program. On top of that, even though space is becoming privatized, you also have to look at who is buying rides on these companies rockets.

If they can start landing their own rockets, then they have a shot. But theyre a distant second. I am glad they are competing otherwise the us would not have much motivation

All these hi-tech were largely available in West but never shared openly with developing countries and people-in-need. Now with China in the lead, such technologies and collaborations help world towards a shared and prosperous future.

Excellent video Curious Elephant; please upload similar contents in the near future. I think we require competition from private space firms & government sector in space industry. The Chinese & Americans are good at space works and they do have different points and perspectives, strengths/weaknesses also ambitions in space works. I personally think private space firms & government space agencies should innovate rapidly and excel compete with each other in space and other industries. :o)

Hi, good to see you're video after a long time! Would love your video on India's plans to put a man in space by next year and also a space station by 2030. I'm sure you would bring in new perspectives. And further, instead of binary between US and China, it would be a multipolar competition with India's ISRO, Japan's JAXA as well as Europe's ESA, along with US and China. Also, India's great demographic dividend can make it a surprise winner, coupled with it's emerging private sector participation. Do analyse multiple such aspects for you're viewers, it would be helpful. Thank you.

They definitely should complete. Composition brings huge innovation. Luckily we have private companies doing that.

You have a misunderstanding, China never wants to compete with Americans. China has always been looking for opportunities for cooperation.

I agree with pretty much all of your assessment points. The question is, without the loose environmental laws and worker safety laws coupled with the iron grip state control over its people, along with espionage, would they be here? With the US’s environmental laws. workplace safety laws, distributed state planning, they are almost competing with one hand tied behind their back. But is that hand being tied a better societal trade off?

Perhaps it is not wise to conflate quantity with quality. While China is playing the game of using space as a means for demonstrating national status SpaceX has been redrawing the rules; China is effectively competing with a private US company.

Everything in this video was good except the 1/4 of a 1000 part.

By 2050 Mars will be an independent Planet, they will be asking for permission to enter orbit.

The US has the advantage of the private sector. In less than a decade the US became from a non-player in the space satellite industry to a complete monopoly. That's the power of the private sector. China can allocate a lot of resources but they will never be as efficient. Take for example NASA. They are a state-owned organization. They know that they are not efficient. That's why they are spending money on the private sector. Those money saved SpaceX which is now the most dominant power in Space. China can never replicate that success when they get to where the US is today the latter will be readying themselves for the Mars mission probably.

They are ahead of NASA, the only reason America is still ahead is because of Elon Musk.

Can China overtake NASA: sure. Are they going to overtake the US space industry: not a chance. SpaceX is alone is doing more and more ambitious things than most countries. Then there are the legions of small sat launchers. Furthermore, we have companies looking at building private space stations.
