Why China's economy may not overtake the U.S.' just yet

Council on Foreign Relations Fellow Zongyuan Zoe Liu spoke with Yahoo Finance anchors Julie Hyman and Brad Smith about the state of the Chinese economy noting, "I still see China's growth potential in the long run, but what really is constraining the Chinese growth potential comes from both economic fundamentals that is related to the financial repression growth model and the other aspects is geopolitics." When it comes to international companies like Starbucks (SBUX) and Apple (AAPL) who invest in China, Liu says that middle-income families "are not necessarily incentivized to spend" right now. Liu cites declining income growth and weakening job prospects.
