I have been doing the vegan keto for years in order to control my type 1 diabetes, no high bad colesterol, kidney stones, or panda eyes, and no diabetes complications. But my main sources or fats are not processed sources of fats. No oils. Just nuts, seeds and avocado. The rest is just green veggies, cherry tomatoes, and berries (for they’re low carb high antioxidant). Have replied to your videos before when talking about keto, saying vegan keto is way healthier, but I always get dismissed or hated on for saying the truth about my personal experience.

I'm not on a vegan keto diet, but I have definitely increased my fat intake by a lot. I found that a high carb low fat diet did not work for me at all. I tried it for a year, used chronometer and was theoretically getting all my proper nutrients, but I found that my digestion was way off, I was getting sick a lot more frequently, I was always starving, always exhausted, and generally feeling off and uncomfortable. I am a person who has an extremely high metabolism, and a very active job, so I found that after switching to veganism, at first, I had to eat constantly, and never felt fully satisfied. But it was imperative to me that I found a way to solve all of these side affects without compromising my morals.

I haven't decreased my carb intake, but I've upped my fat intake and make sure I eat a bit of either nut/seed butters, coconut milk, seeds, nuts, avocados etc almost every meal. I try to avoid using oil, but I haven't completely eliminated it. I also upped my starches too, I eat a ton more yams and potatoes, usually multiple times a day actually. I've found that these adjustments have done wonders. I am not starving all the time, I feel more satisfied after eating, I don't have to eat as much, digestion is great, I'm not super tired etc etc.

It took me awhile to figure out veganism, but I think that I am finally getting somewhere. Next things to do: significantly reduce refined sugar, and add in more leafy greens.

Sorry for the long comment, but thought that maybe my experience might help someone in a similar situation. =)

I’ve never clicked a video so fast lol. I’ve been researching vegan keto for the last 2 days but there’s not a whole lot on it. Really glad you made this video.

Such great research Mic. You must spend a lot of time collecting this data and then editing these videos. Thanks for your efforts.

I’m doing this right now and sharing the journey on my channel 🤗🎉 Vegan Keto definitely is a life changer for me! Despite all the positive effects I have experienced, you are right, it’s not sustainable or long term. I find this so interesting and I am so glad one of my favorite channels is talking about it 🙌🏼

I ain't counting the carbs in my veggies, no matter how wonderful vegan keto may be! It seems overly and unnecessarily restrictive to me. If I was really sick, with cancer or some other debilitating disease i'd consider it, but really the evidence to support this way of eating isn't convincing to me - and anyway i'm already thriving on a moderate carbs moderate fat 20% or so protein vegan diet !

I’ve been on a vegetarian keto for almost a year and it completely revolutionized my life. The levels of well being, energy, cognition have improved n huge ways.
I do eat sardines, salmon, oysters, mackerel about 3 times a week though which makes me a pescatarian I know, but 18 days out of the month I’m either vegan or vegetarian due to the eggs I eat. I used to have hypothyroidism which went away within 2 weeks of fasting and keto lifestyle.

Love how I feel eating vegan keto. My body feels like shit when I eat too many carbs.

I've been HCLF vegan for 3 years and I'm fatter than I've ever been. That's why I'm looking at vegan keto. I need to try something different.

I have MS and this is pretty much the exact opposite of the diet my doctor put me on 😂 lower fat, higher carbs and moderate protein. So far its changed everything for me.

Thank you for this video. I’m so freaked out by all of the Keto and carnivore lunatics out there. I give it four years and we are going to see a lot of “why I’m no longer Keto/carnivore” and “going vegan” or else the coffin industry is going to get a massive boost.

I tried vegan keto diet a few years ago and felt like crap. I only went like 10 days though... I just eat balanced vegan now. I eat more rice with my meals and that has helped me keep off any hunger... honestly I'm rarely very hungry anymore and my digestion is great right now.

I went vegan to reduce my cholesterol. I didn’t know that coconut oil was bad for LDL and I’ve been using it. Thanks for the information

I have to still weigh and track my food on a plant based diet lol. My hunger cues are screwed up, and even using measuring cups doesn’t cut it. Lost 34lbs this past year since going vegan, working better than keto did

I had a friend of mine that started the keto diet because she was trying to lose weight. I told her to be careful, in the long run it can be very unhealthy. She decided to do her own research on that aspect and has since gone vegan because of it (throwing your name several times into her research citations). She has lost more weight eating a plant based diet and feels so much better. Only slightly related to this video but I was proud and excited so I needed to share. Thanks Mic!

I quit 5 years of veganism for a keto pescatarian diet. I still enjoy my tempeh, tofu, cashew cream, but I’ll have an egg or some fish every now and then. My health and my skin has improved significantly.
