Hatching the Smallest Hognoses of the Year!

Our clutch of 18 hognose eggs has hatched and they're sooo tiny! Sadly, by the time this video came out, the runt didn't make it despite tube feeding efforts (since she was too small for even the tiniest of pinky heads). But the rest are doing well at least! They're so petite!

Congrats to Lumpy for the clutch and Flapjack for avoiding child support.

The normal morph for hognoses is gorgeous.

Emily: how many babies can I hold in my hand at once? *picks up about seven* I think that is as many as I can do… *proceeds to hold all eighteen in one hand*

Since you are breeding Waffle and Flapjack in hopes of getting TOFFEE hognoses, you should do a dessert/candy theme for the eggs next year.

You apologized for pairing her with the wrong male... but for all you know, Lumpy is a real catch. Humans just don't know what makes a reptile good lookin' or not, but Lumpy may be a real fox. ;)

Loool breeder nightmare scenario #49... Pairing a normal instead of a het to your other fancy het. Hey, it's not the worst thing, but it's such a setback. Time is both your best friend and worst enemy as a breeder.

Your reptile hatching videos are like a drug to me, why are they all SO CUTE?! And the feisty ones are so adorable ♡♡♡

I've had a horrible day and hearing Emily and Ed fawn over cute smol hoggies is just what I needed. Thanks!

The variation in pattern amongst even the normals is gorgeous. Goodness, Waffle's babies are *tiny*! Hatching season has been something I look forward to for the past several years, and it's always exciting 😆

I gave my Children's python one of those sugar packet containers, and now he's way too big for it, but he still manages to stuff himself in there and it's adorable! I can't bring myself to take it away from him. He has tons of other hides, but that's the only one he uses.

My theory is that hogs need to do their first shed while their skin is still very humid from the egg. Being that the first shed is very thin and delicate, and hogs have quite significant keelation on their scales, they may run into issues with stuck shed if they get to dry

Glad that you guys have been getting some sort of sustenance during all of this craziness. If you feel that you don't have time to cook during the week, crock pot and freezer meals are your best friends. Lots of recipes freeze surprisingly well, and crock pots are amazing. You guys probably have one at home, but I'd like to recommend one for the shop as well as a small oven. Dedicate a small section of the freezer at the shop (or get a small one of those as well) and a section of your freezer at home, and fill both with pre-prepped/cooked meals. Set aside a day every other week and use that to shop and cook/prep everything. That way, you'll have food if you decide to work late or are too tired to cook when you get home. Just toss whatever in the crock pot or oven to heat and chow down when it's ready. A bit healthier than fast food, a much larger menu possible, and it's far cheaper in the long run. :)

Best timing yet. I had just gotten back from walking from a test I had in my nutrition class. All the babies looks so cute. I honestly couldn't tell there was a runt in the clutch until she was pointed out due to how small she was. She looks so cute and I hope she makes it

Hi Emily. I saved a baby hognose from a flea trap in my basement, no clue how it got down there but the little boy (he has a long tail) kept flicking his tongue in and out as I gently got the trap off his belly and wrapped his tail around my finger as if to say thank you yesterday I thought it was a garter snake at first before I looked it up. He was grey with black spots so not a normal Idk which morph he was but I put him in the woods where he came from on a plant. Went to check on him about half an hour later and he was gone all safe and happy

I’m weirdly relieved to see them sponsored by hello fresh? There’s been times when I’ve seen stuff in the background and been like “is that food?” And at some point I was starting to believe that their animals were eating better than them… Emily and Ed: Take care of yourselves, we love you!! 🥺

Ed trying to make Emily feel better about the lumpy situation was so sweet. “They’re pretty!” Haha I love them

Since Emily feels awkward without a reptile in her hand, does that mean she keeps reptiles in her hand 24/7? When she sleeps, eats, showers, watches TV, plays Pokémon GO, etc?
