The Vault-Dwellers also had to face hundreds of unexpected challenges, like floors and walls dissapaering, humans that mutate in bizarre ways whenever they wear their Power Armors, look down or use a camera, nukes dropping out of nowhere on the town next door spawning dozens of invincible monstrosities if not destroying the whole dimension on its own and much, much more... Kinda ironic when vault dwellers are the ones supposed to rebuild the nuclear wasteland when in game theyre just making it worse by nuking it again and fighting each other for no reason

Pretty sure the vault was opened 20yrs after bombs and a few dwellers did leave the vault, but they weren't heard of so 5 years after that the rest left as well or something like that

Turned into a hub or have some side stuff with Dwellers staying behind to make a outpost for settlers.

Just because the amenities stop running, doesn't mean that Vault 76 isn't a treasure trove of resources, and a great shelter.
Go back to 76 and cut up what you need and leave.
Or!
If you're smart, you can figure out what made the amenities stop running, and undo or fix the problems, and voila! You've got the most comfortable base in the region.

Vault 76 should have acted as an expanding location with random updates expanding the east coast "vault city" and vault 76 being the dorms and capital building where quests are given
