Summary: No matter what you claim if you listen to Chinese people talk it's an "rj" sound. Mainly the focus is on the "r" sound and sometimes it's on the "j" sound, or it's an equal mix of both, but it's DIFFERENT EVERY TIME. People DO NOT SPEAK CLEARLY. For example I was watching a man repeat the word "chuqu", and the subtitles confirmed he kept saying "出去", but sometimes he said "chuqu" and sometimes he said "chuchu". I listened very carefully. The CONTEXT tells people what you are saying, not how you pronounce the words!

This is the best explanation on YouTube. Short and to the point. No change in the pronounciation of rou, like most explanations.

People keep saying this, but then when you talk you make a completely different sound. Tell us what year it is without making an "r" sound. :) I found two examples where a Chinese person used pinyin "r" in the first 5 seconds of the video. One said "ri" and the other said "Riyu". Both times they clearly made an "r" sound. Or in a song with repeated lyrics when singing "ru" sometimes it was "ru", sometimes "ju" and sometimes halfway between "rju". BUT IT'S MOSTLY AN "R" SOUND!

This a wonderful lesson. As clear and explanation of the "r" pronunciation as you can get, with wonderful examples. hen hao

Thank you for this. I just realized that there was a different pronunciation then I could audibly determine. And different apps sound like a different pronunciation. ——There are a few words that sound like multiple letters in English. Such as the word for arm, sounds like B, H, F, all at the same time. —-this video so far has been the most helpful for understanding how to make the R sound, in very simple and easy terms. —- On my own, I kept doing the Japanese R, and even some sort of French method upon it. —-Chinese just has completely different ways of forming sounds, then English, and you almost need to just sit down and learn all of those as a first step. This was not clear to me until this moment.

When it is broken down to "sure" of measure, I can follow and make the somewhat "jhir" sound. But when I try to say Ren, it sounds like "jhuhn".. when I replay your video, I can still hear an 'r' sound so should it be like, "jhruhn"?
Please advise 🙏😔

Oh man, I'm so confused!! Everybody keeps saying pronounce it ZH. BUT no-one does. Most people pronounce it like YEN or REN. I've gone through countless examples and noone ever says ZH, but all the videos tell you it is. What's going on???
