Normally japanese is quite easy for me to pronounce because my first language is spanish and both languages are very phonetically similar. But the flat r sound has always been a hassle to me because our r is not flat at all, it's quite emphatic, so thank you so much for this tip!

In Spanish (and Italian) we also have that sound, it's like the "r" in Mario as it is pronounce in the video game

I lived in Japan for six years and this is the most helpful language training I’ve ever seen. I appreciate your work. Arigatou! 🙇‍♀️

Had my Japanese instructor call it an 'apico-alveolar tap'. Yes, I know very technical word. As he explained it, the Japanese R is very unique and rarely used in any other language in the world... except English. Specifically, American English.

If you were to ask British English speakers to say 'butter', they would probably place a break between syllables to emphasis the T. American English speakers tend to rush the syllables to give those hard T's a soft D sound. He taught us to focus on that soft D when using trying to speak Japanese words with an R in them.

Your mouth presentation is by far the best thing that I never knew existed to explain how to make the sounds

This is great, none of information i've seen so far explains how to pronounce R, where to position your tongue. I did not know this.

I've been studying chinese for some months, and seeing this video was so mind-blowing, because to pronounce the "R" in chinese you have to touch the same spot shown in the video. Its impressive how much learning these specific tongue positions help out on pronounciation.

Great video and content, love your channel so much ❤

The Japanese r sound is basically one vibration of the tongue when rolling an r
