Finally a video which clearly demonstrates the tongue position you know when u are a foreigner you can't really get the difference just by listening or using a poor or not tremendously clear tongue image after all there is a lot of different L's out there lol

Also a tip for Arabic speakers the dark L or the L in the end of the word he was talking about *I guess* actually exists in Arabic too but only in the standard pronunciation of the word ( الله ) -except when it follows long or short /i/ when it is not emphatic: بسم الله
according to wiki -
While we usually if not always use normal L in every other word like ( ليمون،لسان،لقاح....ألخ )

Wow! I am an English teacher in Taiwan. A lot of people, including my students, have difficulty with this. I know how important this sound is in English so I am glad to have found such a helpful video on how to do pronounce the L and R.

I would really like to know where I could also buy your mouth and tongue teaching tool. It makes explanations way easier!

cynic's song

there's a liver in the river,
and it's flowing gently so.
and it's all because of fever
of one lonely poorest soul.

there's a liver in the river
but the sun is shining still.
even if it makes you shiver,
it's not you who paid the bill.

Thank you, Aly, for the inspiration. Hope, you'll like the song :D

I've been teaching English for over 20 years. I never took a phonology course, but have read quite a bit. If your other videos are like this one, will be sending my students your way. Great stuff!

Excellent video! I know it will help a lot of people out there. If I may, however: an L before a consonant is pronounced the same way as a final L, as in "alter" and "Sir Elton John." That last example uses both the L and R sounds. "Parallelogram" is an awesome practice word. I give this video 6 stars and an Oscar!

Excellent video. As a German I'm having heaps of trouble with the likes of "horror", "rural", "juror" and "squirrel". This helps a lot.
