To complete this build:

- Multiclass into fighter, I'd recommend starting fighter 1, then warlock 2, then back to fighter all the way.

This way you get heavy armor prof, with later feats get crossbow expert or gunner to nullify your disadvantage from casting EB in melee.

Gives you incredible versatility in your fighting, and is just great fun overall as a melee character.

Now, the only problem: Convincing your DM that "up" is a valid direction.

Make sure to grab gunner or crossbow expert to avoid disadvantage blasts

So, one thing that makes this build more consistent is if you take Spike Growth which Dao Genie allows you to take. That, combined with Sorcerer multiclass so you can quickened spell Spike Growth essentially turns your character into a cheese grater. Bonus points if later you take the Grasp of Hadar invocation.

At 3rd level you can make it even crazier.

You get Spike Growth and can also have your second invocation to be Grasp of Hadar, which allows you to push them 15 feet and pull them 10 feet through the spikes dealing 1d10 + PB + 10d4.

Sounds pretty dope to me.

I was just making a similar character themed around flavoring this as gravity magic. maxing out all the forced movement invocations and the crusher feat. So you can toss around enemies

How to make a Florida man: be human, take tavern brawler feat, then be a fighter with the new throwing style, then pick up an alligator and just throw it into some Wendi’s drive through window:~/)

Only issue with this is "push" as defined by the rules means to move away from you in a straight line. You don't get to choose the direction, so up isn't valid *unless* you are already below the target. Since most combat is on relatively flat maps, this is only going to work under water or on hills, planes and mountains where elevation comes into play.

Just the normal way (moving people straight back) is also fun though.
Especially at 3 beams. 35 feet is usually enough to make sure the enemy needs to dash to get to you.
Also throwing people out of windows never gets old

My favourite thing to do with a warlock is have a staff as your arcane focus and take pact of the tome. Why, you ask? Shillelagh. Freaking Shillelagh.

There's no way my dm is gonna let me do this every turn

I've brainstormed this build many times before, as the best character to move things around. Variant Human for feat is good at low levels, but I've though of a flying race (such as Fairy) to fly above monsters and use the Grasp of Hadar invocation to pull them up towards you. Then, a significant dip into Graviturgy wizard lets you get an additional 5 feet of movement each time you hit, and can force more fall damage at higher levels.
