It seems like many of the problems with this laptop are solved in the Yoga Slim 7i Aura edition. Can’t wait to see your take on that laptop

We need a Yoga 7x vs Yoga Slim 7 vs Yoga 7i.

3 things are certain in life:
- Death
-Taxes
- Lenovo losing points on their device for a shitty track pad

The laptop may be great, but for me - and, in my opinion, for a very significant chunk of laptop users - an ARM-based CPU means it's currently a no-go. Sure, most of us use, for most of the time, programs that can run on ARM. But... What about the times in which we use less common programs? I use quite a bit of those for work, for instance. Having it as a "secondary device" is mostly something only laptop reviewers do. I'm rather sure that 99.9% of laptop users don't have more than one laptop (except for some old laptops they didn't get rid of).

Can't psychologically convince myself to buy a +1000€ laptop in 2024 without a haptic trackpad... One of the main reasons that I went for surface laptop 7

There's another unspoken downside to this one, and that's just the fac t it's a Lenovo, which means you're basically beholden to Lenovo's occasionally lackadaisical approach to software support. Qualcomm have been releasing newer graphics drivers and system software stuff for the last couple of months. The surface, for example, has a considerably newer graphics driver. However, lenovo are still dragging their heels, and are still running the drivers and such from the end of May. With their usual lack of communication skills, all they w ill say is "we don;t comment on updates, just wait for therm" since all updates are delivered by windows update for the snapdragon series, according to them. If you're on the windows insider beta track, there was a system update that dropped on the 14th, but that did not include any new graphics driver.

Lenovo don;t exactly cover themselves in glory when it comes to keeping track of the latest updates (caveat, I'm not sure what the situation is with the other manufacturers snapdragon laptops, except I know MS is on more recent drivers) so that may affect your choice.

I believe Aura edition will be better so we can stay with x86 ;-) (still believe i got a chance to come back to windows and no need to buy new M4 macbook)

Great vid

Found your channel because I need to replace my 10 year old thinkpad. Really impressed with the quality of your reviews, and their info on quality of life stuff like touchpad palm rejection and heat/noise

Not having audio jack can be justified on phones, But not on laptop which have tons of space for tiny but usefull port. Bluetooh is unusable for anything beyond listening audio only stuff due to major latency problem

the absence of an audio jack should definitely not just be mentioned in passing. this is a disgusting anti consumer practice that we went through before but at least we had computers where we can use proper phones on. this is absurd and lenovo should be publicly named and shamed for this nonsense, before other brands get the same idea. ABSOLUTELY not ok.

Just bought a yoga 7i 2 in 1 14” for my son which I was able to specify with the 2.8k oled display, the i7 ultra 155H & 32GB memory and 1 TB storage. This was the same spec as available ‘off the shelf’ on the 9i, but at £400 cheaper.

It arrived two days ago, it feels very well built, I’m really impressed with the quality. The display is amazing.

My son has reported that he used it for about 6hrs at college & still had 40% battery remaining. This was not taking any actions to conserve battery power, other than it being on the ‘balanced’ power setting.

Oh, & the 7i 2 in 1 Intel based model at least also has one USB-A, and two USB-C’s

I didn’t want to risk having apps not be supported, so went for Intel model.

Bought a Surface and a Yoga. Kept the Yoga. For downloading photos from serious cams (R5 MkII 45MB files) into LrC from a USB-C outboard card reader (ProGrade) while on Safari in Kenya it's ideal. The photos are then on my desktop when I get home by syncing with the Adobe cloud. Screen is great as I can cull on the plane. Couldn't be happier. Trip before I took my MSI Creator 16 (i9 and Nvidia). This was so much better for weight and battery life in the bush.

Lookin forward to the Burn-In test! This issue has led me to ditch a lot of great laptops out of fear of it having burn in eventually :s

The power button on the right side is only an issue for testers. Anyone who owns such a laptop would do the mistake maybe 3 or 4 times. After that it becomes part of the muscle memory and a non-issue. Regarding the touchpad: who still haven’t learnt how to use a touchpad without pressing the physical button, should not complain but simply learn how to use it. Also in this case, it becomes a matter of muscle memory and a non-issue.

Bought Surface laptop 7, would have considered this machine but I can't have a machine with no haptic touchpad anymore, all Windows laptop should ditch the traditional trackpad imo.

It is so bizarre to me that so many reviewers don't state what the laptop specs are at the start of their videos.... Is it Intel or AMD or Snapdragon? Does it had have a dedicated GPU or not??? How many GB Memory does it go up By far the most important information people want to know before they would even consider the other features.
