Hidden fees have been around for as long as humans have walked the Earth. Advertise a low price to get someone in the door, then hit 'em with extra charges that weren't advertised or made clear. A bill in California seeks to eliminate hidden fees in that state, and Ray and Zach are on board...as long as it's ENFORCED!

My Wife and I just bought a used 2019 Buick from a dealership. Thanks to your advice, we were able to negotiate a price lower than what was advertised, and stayed within our budget without the need for any financing.

States do NOT want criminal convictions because that will stop the ability to levy fines and penalties

Watched many of your videos before buying a 2022 Ram Sport 4x4. Closed the deal 1 day ago, used your methods and got 7k below msrp! The sales guys told me that the dealer took a $3200 loss just to move it off the lot to make room for the 2023 rams. This is a florida dealership. Thanks!!

Every time I ask about the doc fee and subsequently call it "junk" or "price addition", the salespeople all get indignant. It's been going on so long the dealers believe it's true and good. BS.

What would be a Best Buy under 45k? Luxury or not. Or even under 40k.

Hi, just got a n offer from BMW dealer. Asked him few times about if everything is included and if there are additional charges like dealers installed options, fabric protection, tire protection and so on because price was looking attractive and I didn't want to drive from Houston to San Antonio and find something is not the way is looking. The answer was if I don't want to pay for all that stuff will be charged additional 1% over the MSRP and sales man told me that's his commission disclosure, which sounds to me to pay him some kind of tip or I even don't know. My question is if that's appropriate, during my life bought almost 25 vehicles and never ever someone try to rip me off like that.

Its cheaper to just get dinged every once in a while on the off chance someone reports it. They rake in the money from all the people that just roll over and pay the fees. Want an effective stop? A fine that goes to the buyer of said vehicle or renter of said room or what have you in the full amount of the bill. It's easy for a giant corporation to say something along the lines of that the compensation must be in line with the damages. In which case would be a couple grand in a single transaction for someone who actually fights it, but then they make it back in all the people that don't. It is not an effective deterrent for these companies that way. An effective deterrent would be if they had to give the vehicle to the consumer for free every time they pulled this crap, or the hotel would have to comp the entire stay free of charge. I can absolutely guarantee that these kinds of practices would dissolve overnight when eagle eye consumers go on the hunt for these free vehicles as soon as these mega-corps start pulling shenanigans. I've never been a fan of punishment equal to the crime (punishment that fits the crime on the other hand is a different scenario). Punishment should hurt more than the crime. If the crime in this case nets you an extra 3k per vehicle for 10 consumers to every one consumer that fights it, then absolutely that consumer should get a free 30-40k vehicle out of it. This way it costs the dealership more than they got in profit for pulling that stunt in the first place, otherwise there is no incentive to stop. It just becomes a cost of doing business.

Enforcement is easy and only requires one more rule: whoever shows up with cash of the advertised number, the dealer must sell the car to this customer and fully execute the transaction without any additional cost.

We have had this in Canada (maybe Ontario only, not sure) for many years now. Dealer by law has to sell a car at advertised price plus tax and license fee.

I just went to buy a Lexus UX, I was told MSRP, they didn’t have a market adjustment but they did have a 5k add on’s package ( aka ) mark up !
I told them I don’t want that stuff, locking lugs, laser, etching, Vin number, paint protection, window tint !
I got the runaround on why they put that there and it was from the factory and I said it doesn’t matter you’re not allowed to charge a person for items they do not want and I don’t want any of those items .. I also asked to see my buy rate .
I was told they could not sell me the car as it was unfortunately In process of being sold to another customer .,
It’s now been a week and the car is still on the lot ! … your channel is great but when I ask about things ray says to ask about it told good bye .
At this rate I’d rather just buy a Tesla .
Least the price is the price.

Hidden fees are a criminal activity... And there should be jail time for anyone who engages in that practice...
