Zach calls a Mazda dealer in New York to ask about a car on their website. Should be pretty simple, right?

Right??

This is customer service across-the-board these days. Not just car dealerships. It’s very sad.

Whenever I’m on hold and I hear “Your call is very important to us”. I think “BULLSHIT! If it was important, I’d be talking to a real person and not sitting there waiting.

A few years back I bought a car. The salesman that wrote it up was going over the sale sheet with me expelling the taxes, dealer fees, and as he went down the sheet add some more tax’s in. So I ask him what that was for, he said the government has to get their taxes too. So i said but you all really took taxes out up there, and he looked kind of in barest, and looked at the sales manager, and they took it off the sheet. It was an additional 300 buck that I saved. You really have to watch these guys.

They snatched defeat away from the jaws of victory. The "sales-prevention department" prevailed.

Recently witnessed the purchase process for a Lucid Air. The guy ordered an available vehicle through the web site, placed deposit on credit card, provided drivers license and existing insurance info via their simple portal, then spoke with sales advisor on the phone to verify a few things, including any additional charges. There are NO charges beyond the destination charge and state tax/title That's how it should be. The 'normal' car buying process is predatory, stress inducing and fundamentally unfair.

I called my local Kia Dealer to find out if the car I was ready to come in and buy had a Spare Tire or a STUPID Inflator Kit.
I was transferred to a man who said "Let me get my Team Together ".
I said never mind if you need a Team to find out if a car has a Spare Tire, I need another Dealer and hung up.

I made an appointment two days in advance to look at a MX-5, at the dealership I bought my CX-5 at, 5 years ago. I wasn't allowed to operate the top, sit in it with the top down, operate the windows, view the engine, etc. All with a hostile attitude from the sales associate.

So I need to find a new dealership 😂

Trying to reach someone at the dealership is like trying to reach a dead person. It is absolutely ridiculous. They rarely respond to emails, calls, texts, etc. And when you go in person, it's not even that much better. I know they are NOT selling that many cars! Customer service is dead today.

From everything I have seen about most dealerships this is fairly standard procedure. Basically they want you sitting in front of them before giving a quote.

I was a transporter for a Dodge dealership. They were terrible. I was in the office one day and a man come in. He wanted to buy a car he seen it on online. They told me couldn’t buy it only online. They wouldn’t even give them a price I guess they didn’t sell a car.

That's got to be one of the worst dealerships on the planet. The owner of the dealership should conduct these kind of calls to his dealership periodically to test them.

Imagine you are stuck into this nonsense for 30-40 minutes, which they have edited for 8 min video, and still unable to contact with sales manager.

I visited a dealership in person and when I expressed interest in a car, I mentioned that I wanted my mechanic to inspect it before making a commitment. They cited insurance reasons for not allowing the car to leave the lot and traveling to an outside garage. I proposed that my mechanic could visit the dealership, but they rejected that idea too, for "insurance reasons" Consequently, I requested to inspect the underside of the car myself in their service area and asked for one of their mechanics to connect a code reader to check for any issues. They agreed to arrange this for the following day. However, the next morning, they called to inform me that the car had been sold. Despite this, I noticed that the car remained listed for sale on their website for the next week, then I stopped checking. Needless to say, I will never go back to that dealership.

Agreed. Name the dealer. There is no secrets here. Nothing illegal

ironically, my vehicle purchase in November 2021 was easy and stress free - go figure - our ford fusion was totaled on IH 35 in San Marcos - that road eats cars - and the payout was way more than expected...so now we had to find and buy a car...we spent a sunday driving around and seeing who had vehicles on the lots....and - it was a Mazda dealership who had the most....monday we went in and drove a CX-5, told them we wanted it....but my spouse wanted red interior...sigh....so told very professional sales guy we wanted a red interior....he disappeared for 5 minutes or so...came back and said the red interiors were on the boat, if we gave him $500 to reserve, he would call us in approximately 3 weeks to complete the deal....3 weeks later he called and we purchased the vehicle at MSRP...no markups whatsover and 0% financing for 3 are unicorn

They size you up' If they think they can rip you off, they go for it, If not, they are not interested in making a deal. I love the look on their face when you want to pay and drive out the door, no gimmicks, no extras or dealer financing.
