Then we added Cash Buyer Negotiations, and Held Hostage at a Car Dealership, No Haggle One Price Car Dealerships, How Much do Used Car Dealers Pay for Cars?, and Costco Auto Program. We hit all the topics!

A CAR DEALER WANTS TO:
1. SELL every car for the Highest Possible Price.
2. CONVINCE Car Buyers to use Dealer affiliated Lenders / Banks.
3. LOAD every Car Deal full of Fees and Finance Products.
4. OFFER Lowball numbers on every Trade Vehicle.

THE HOMEWORK GUY TEAM (THG) HELPS CAR BUYERS TO:
1. BUY a Car from Dealers or Private Party Sellers at the Lowest Price.
2. PAY Cash or Finance with their own Bank or Credit Union.
3. DECLINE Dealer Fees and Finance Products.
4. TRADE / SELL their current vehicle for the Best Value.

For more than 40 years, dealerships have EARNED their lowly reputation by being the masters of predatory selling. Dealers stalk victims relentlessly, often ruthlessly treating the most vulnerable car buyers (like seniors, for example) with little or no conscience. Car Dealers and their Finance Officers have no problem creating financial devastation for their customers with over bloated car loans, and quite often do. We point out the traps and the flaws of the process, and help car buyers get through the nonsense without being ripped off. We promote fairness, honesty, and transparency. Join our mission!

The Homework Guy Team provides car buying consumers with information, automotive news and updates, industry outlook, buying and selling advice, and other help to level the tables. The public face of THG is Kevin Hunter and the master negotiator, Amazing Elizabeth. Tons of time and research goes into every show, with several projects always on the table, all with the goal of getting it exactly right. From Automotive News Updates to vehicle shopping advice and assistance, The Homework Guy Team is the best there is.

It would be a good idea to have a "Good Guys" dealers list. Send business to them and not to the others. There are good guys out there.

I spoke to a GM dealer salesperson I have know for years and sent him this video. First words he said was, “I welcome the new rules. It will take out the bad guys.” Basically if you say that then you have nothing to hide.

I bought my last two new cars in the 2010 - 2013 period. In both cases I used an on-line service to provide a list of local dealers that had the desired vehicle; the service provided contact information along with price. For both cars, I called the most reputable dealer on the list, confirmed the out-the-door price, and received a ballpark price for my trade-in (they confirmed all the numbers in an email). In both cases (with two different dealers), the purchase was amazingly easy and quick - also the price was excellent and I negotiated an increase in my trade. The entire experience left me feeling so good about humanity and I didn't feel slimey-dirty afterwards. Although, neither dealership allowed me to escape without visiting the finance manager - for them I just said 'no' twenty times while smiling my way out the door. This is the way cars should be purchased.

Europe has figured this out so long ago - hyper consumerism and greed has once again reared its head so yes this sector and housing sectors should be regulated.

We were literally just about to go to a dealer and check out some of the models we were deciding on; booked time off and everything.. when I stumbled on this channel and now we are definitely waiting.

Thank you so much! I think you just saved us thousands. Pays to be informed!

God bless 🙏

I called a car dealership for a car that I like that they have (an actual Honda dealership in NH). I asked the sales person on the phone, what's the out the door price and what fees are included. She said there is a $450 document fee t hen proceeded to tell me that different dealers have different doc fee. I said to her that i would be interested if the doc fee was $75. She said no sorry that is non negotiable it's what we charge to do the processing. I was like ok thank you goodbye.

The atmosphere is approximately 78% nitrogen. So, if a person wants nitrogen in their tires just add air!

I always assume a car dealer is going to try to rip me off.

I'd love to have an FTC official walk into a car dealership with me to buy a car and go through their process to see the reaction after making the deal to realize the "friend" was and FTC person.

Dealerships ought to have a limitation on how much over the msrp they'd be allowed to charge. They've been price gouging for far too long.

Some dealers act like all the paperwork has to be hand-written by monks in the office, signed by the owner of the dealership, transported by pack mule 4, 000 miles, etc. It's been computerized for years; some states are now doing electronic titling in various flavors. These stealerships simply don't want consumers to know what's going on, let alone how much consumers are overpaying in fake fees under various fake names. Now they will have to show consent in writing...this ought to be good.

We NEED stronger consumer protection laws on Major Appliances too. They are putting out pure JUNK these days and I haven't been able to get a refrigerator to last more than 4 years in the last decade. Some HVAC contractors are just as CROOKED as car dealers.
