Truth. Addicts don’t love themselves and treat themselves well. How could they ever love and treat us well. ❤

Yes save your money and focus on you. I have been working on myself and i have last 40 pounds with a trainer, spiritually cleansing myself. Spending time alone, Journaling, going to prayer, talking to my pastor.. i feel so much freedom. I haven't felt like this in 4 years. Thank you jesus

Great video. I took a ton of notes. Why am I so quick to fall back in love with him/reconnect with him once he gets a couple weeks of sobriety? Especially after him holing up in a room for four days drinking while I take care of the kids, strangling me and pushing me through a wall, driving drunk, missing work, being rude to our son?! Why do I want him?! I want to believe this time it will get better, I believe he’s sorry, I fear breaking up the family, I’ve learned to live in the haze of denial and distraction, I ride the highs and lows like it’s a theme park.

Oh MAN, girl!
This one painfully hits home. You're absolutely right on!! I am SO SO manipulated😢
Your phrase regarding being sucked into belief IS intoxicating... ugh. And I am SO emotionally blackmailed.
Thank you for lifting those veils!!
I'm NOT CRAZY!!!😂❤

Going thru a divorce currently. Addict cheated and said it was just talking they didn't physically do anything wrong. Had me feeling like i had no right to be upset. Finally told them to leave its been 90 days and they are doing bad, always texting me as a victim mentality. "I hurt them, I'm the problem". No sir i can't help you in not God, rehab will take u when your ready. So now I've been blocked. 😂 thank God..

Thank you for this video. It is so nice to understand how the partner of an alcoholic needs to work on themselves, and it is amazing that you are giving us that confirmations that we are not crazy.

I’ve been in a relationship with a narcissist for over 15 years half the time they’re nice to be with and the other half there a toxic waste dump … and the cycle continues … pray for strength and leave the situation, , , 😊

My 33 yr. old son has spent his whole adult life as a dysfunctional alcoholic; I've hit rock bottom as a nurturing mother:(

This happened to me!!! It made me nearly suicidal. I am out of the relationship now, working on me but it pisses me off how alanon and therapy “kept” me in a horribly abusive situation when I am financially independent from my abuser and only had mental chains ⛓️ and STUPID programs keeping me in it. AWFUL! No one says it like you Heidi.

Wow. I’ve had arguments with therapist who are manipulated and completely blind! You got my respect when you used the word ‘nuances’…because apparently it’s either dead or extinct?

The question is why did you pick that person in the first place, , , usually at the time that person gets sober you lose your interest in them because they’re a different person, ,, The person who chooses an alcoholic as a partner is usually a control freak and likes the fact that their partner is in the fog, ,, of addiction, , and they’re easy to manipulate, , , i’m 17 years alcohol and drug free but still dealing with codependent issues, , it’s a hard not to crack and it affects everybody in the family… and their behaviors, , , That’s why they call it a family disease, , , everybody needs to be involved in the recovery process, , , otherwise it’s best to separate, ,,😮
