ProRes RAW on the Sony FS Series | NINJA V+

Cinematographer António Morais is no stranger to Atomos. For years he has used the ability to record directly from the sensors of his Sony FS series cameras to Apple ProRes RAW using the Atomos SHOGUN 7. In doing so António is able to preserve valuable image data on a single, robust, industry standard format throughout the production pipeline. With the recent release of AtomOS 10.71, which brings ProRes RAW recording from FS cameras to the NINJA V+ for the first time, he has new choice.

Mannn this is crazy! I just literally started into looking into raw. I have the upgrade and the slowmo upgrade as well on my Sony fs5. I've had it for 2-3 yrs now and it my daily work horse. I always wanted to see the raw footage but no luck on YouTube. Anyway I say all of that to say this. My buddy just recently told he'll sell me his for $150 but it runs how after 30mins. Is that a easy fix? Or just buy it new? Because now I'm ready to shoot raw and take my footage to another level! Thx ya for reading!

So wait let me get this straight for the Sony fs7 you still need to have the Sony Xdca FS7 ($2, 000) plus the Atomos Ninja V+ ($1, 000) to get 4K raw? If this statement is true the fs5 is now way more appealing and for the amount of money you would be spending total with the fs7 you could pretty much afford the fx6.

Hello. I have the shogun 7 and 2 fs700 sony. I am impressed by the quality i guet from the camera in prores raw with lomo lenses. I think about buying an FX9 sony but i really don't know if there will be a huge gap in image quality or if it is better for me to keep my money and buy rather accessories and very good light for the same price. By the way the fs700 is robust and the fact of having two would make my workflow more secures and fast. Do you think the fx9 (with raw module outputting prores raw in the shogun 7) would give me a spectacular improvement in image quality ? thanks

Issue is as Alister Chapman pointed out the ninja v+ only supports linear raw instead of s-log2 on the older ninja :-(

if only it would also do simple 4k 10bit prores without the cumbersome raw workflow :( i mean it IS nice not to have a brick on the fs5 but as long as prores raw isnt supported on premiere or resolve i dont see why i should jump through all the transcoding hoops just to get good 4k from the fs5

AtomX for the sdi fonction nothing are different still get the prores raw and 12 bit 4k 60 fps ?

@Atomos hi guys, I have a question? when you have a External Monitor on a Sony Cam for example a Sony A7IV, when you change any settings on the external monitor while connected to the camera, does it change anything internally when you recording video in the camera? I've been asking other youtubers around who own your Shinobi 5 external monitor but no one has been kind enough to answer my question unfortunately. I Hope you guys read this and are kind to answer my question. I'm new to this and seeing how the videography community is pretty selfish with Information as there is alot of competition out there, it's making me rethink about stepping into this field with videography which Im definitely not trying to compete with anyone, I make videos related to Car Audio on another channel so the field I'm in is a pretty small one and I simply want to be able to share knowledge with those who are new in the car audio DIY community.
