Just when I thought Milwaukee's pin detent was already tough enough to work with, now this. I have small hands so I need to grip high. I absolutely would not have the patience for this issue. I just now ordered the 2nd Gen M18 mid-torque wrench and was second guessing my purchase. I'm so glad I found this video, cause now I know I made the right decision.

Don’t you hate how “other hobbies” affect your tool usage at work…lol! That is a very good observation on the grip change with the new stubby. I think this new mode change will just take time to get adjusted to and a year from now we’ll all be use to it.

The forward reverse toggle has to be closer to the hand because higher up where full size tools have their fwd/reverse toggle is the fuel gauge. I have bumped the reverse to neutral on my impact driver, which has the same updated grip.

I'm a Milwaukee die hard but I've come to the conclusion that DeWalt has much better grip/trigger ergonomics. My brother has all DeWalt stuff so when we are working on projects together it gives me a good opportunity to try similar tools side by side.

I personally think they should have both the old way with the buttons on top and the new way in one gun

Should have put the button in the front where the light was on the older model

only tweak I would make to this design is to have a double tap cause the mode change instead of 2 taps in sequence. The same design used on flashlights for example. Also why not a press and hold to get maximum strength back because once you accidentally do that you would already be in swap mode and then long press from there and it will put it back to max power instead of cycling back through.

Dont fix what aint broken. This is the automotive equivalent of taking away a/c knobs and putting them behind a touch screen menu. Milwaukee probably did this as a cost saving exercise. Its cheaper to write the programming for this once, than to install a button pad on every impact wrench made. I never heard anyone ever complaining that they had to hit a button to change power modes. Changing the power mode is something you did before you had the tool up in the air, ie im going to reinstall lug nuts, ill set it to low. The benfit of single hand power mode changes seems unneeded. And now its adding frustrating by losing power when you did not expect it

Never had this issue with my stubby lol nor with my impact driver that I converted to 1/4 drive anvil

This is like cars going to everything touchscreen. Sometimes you just need a proper button. I’m going to try and find the previous model on discount…

I was looking for a small and mid torque wrench. Got the m18 mid torque and was waiting for the new stubby to come out. Watching couple of this new gen videos, i was like "what the hell milwaukee, why change something that is not broken". remember the electronic clutch on the drill. Now i am second guessing myself and this might sway me away from both the m12 stubby and m18 mt. looking at possibly getting the dewalt DCF891B instead. Also, hate these new high up grips that they keep changing. I want the grip and setup that i am used to for years. change the way it functions, not the way it feels. Not good.

Nothing to argue about the old way is better

I personally do not think I’ll like the new gear switch but I haven’t used it yet, also the issue regarding the ride height in your hand makes total sense and looking at it I honestly like the way the old one sits in your hand. To be fair tho, I still think this wrench will be my and many others daily driver, but when it comes to being perfect for everyone, definitely not the case and sometimes you just have to adjust the way you use a tool to get the most out of it and that just takes time to acclimate I still think it seems to be a phenomenal tool and a giant leap in the right direction. Credit to Milwaukee tho for constantly continuing to innovate and improve their tools

I would have to grab it towards the bottom or I would constantly be hitting the for/rev switch which I would hate. I would have to hold one to see.

Curious to know, what made you get 1/2” on the stubby over 3/8”?

We who are not "boob-tubers" have not even got our Pre-Orders yet! So, who are these users sending in all the "Comments"??

I wonder what your other "hobbies" are?
Milwaukee answered a question nobody asked. Sometimes just leave things the way they are.
