I was on office worker in a small privately-owned medical clinic for a while back in 2009-10. One day my boss (the owner, office manager, accountant, medical coder & biller) handed me a stack of charts and the ICD book and told me to find the right numbers for what was in the charts. I loved it! She'd have me do that every now and then when she was falling behind on it. I thought it was just general paperwork. I wish I had realized I could have a job doing just that!

I completed the Preppy program in May. Step 4 is LOOOONG but Core of it. Currently trying to practice coding, and get my AAPC Certification

On Step 4 Lesson 9 of the Preppy courses. It's hard to cram it all into my head but I know it'll be better when I'm DOING it rather than just taking notes.

Diving in to the medical field as a complete beginner and taking a course on this while working full time and it’s scary and feels overwhelming at the age of 42. But I am hoping with your videos I can do this.

I wish I had seen this channel before I spent 2 years getting an AS in medical coding and billing. Especially since it really didn't go in depth on how to code or bill. Now I find myself starting over at 43. I hope I can do it.

I wish I knew this before, I got my billing and coding certification from a different school and I’m unable to get a job so now I’m going back to get it through AHIMA

I am currently working on my credential through aapc. I personally am finding all of the rules to coding extremely overwhelming. I am doing it on my own. It just seems in this day and age that there must be a more efficient and streamlined way of coding. Software perhaps.

A HIM degree is what im aiming for. 1. More money (in Florida) if i have one.

2 . Im not an online learner i need to be in an actual classroom.

Been doing insurance verification for a hospital system for nearly 10 years now. Considering some related avenues to keep things fresh and raise the pay ceiling a bit. Appreciate your videos.

Do you need to be fast as a medical coder?

I’m doing the whole ‘I’m 40+ so let’s try to do a new career’ phase of life. Was a phlebotomist and went to school for MA but life got out of hand after graduating, then got partial paralysis (is there a ‘didn’t eat the salad and walk off a broken back like the doc said’ code? 😅). So not new to medical stuff but it’s been a few years. Would that help getting with this sort of job both with understanding and being getting employed?

???Just retired from the V.A Hospital in Nashville and worked in cardiology but early on in my career, I was an outpatient clinic clerk. We did our own CPT codes from drs orders and progress notes…I loved it! I am now 58 years old and want to code pt…I sure hope there is not age discrimination?? Surely not…Hate the billing aspect. Just want to learn icd-10 and work pt for 10 or so years…what do you think that looks like in my case? Thank you in advance! Kelley from Nashville :))

Hi! Loving your videos so far! Took the masterclass but had a couple of questions: does Preppy give physical textbooks needed for the exam or do we need to purchase separately? Also, does Preppy include medical terminology & anatomy and physiology courses?

It’s hard. Be prepared to learn Medical Terminology and Anatomy because it is hard.

sunitapandav

The program Im in will prepare me for Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and Certified Coding Associate (CCA) exams. Is this good or should i be considering different training?

Wait… I’m confused… so if I have kids and pets, I shouldn’t do this job if I wanna work from home? Did I understand that correctly that a lot of employers will kinda frown upon that?

Thank you for all your videos. I will but haven't yet watched your masterclass. I have a question though, the local online program i am considering is 18, 000 it says

Certifications

Student are eligible for certification for:
(NCICS) National Certified Insurance and
Coding Specialist (NCICS) from the National
Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).

The Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Diploma Program is

designed to prepare students to obtain entry-level positions in the
medical billing and coding field through a combination of both
clinical and administrative training. Students will learn and practice
how to use management software and electronic health records
(EHR). They will further become proficient in medical insurance and
billing using the ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS II coding system manuals.
The program is focused on preparing students for certification.

I know that was a lot sorry, what do you recommend? Thank you for your time and help! I am still in the process of binge watching all your videos.
