Medical coders take medical records and translate them into code sets that are submitted for billing to receive payments for hospitals and healthcare providers.

Almost all medical coding jobs require coders to be certified through AAPC or AHIMA. Medical coding is not a quick task to learn and can take months to master and thousands of dollars. It also requires annual membership fees, annual book expenses, and you have to be committed to continuing education.

I have autism and a lot of social anxiety. I’ve only been able to work part time most of my life and I’m 32.
I work better alone and am highly considering taking the classes to learn this. Thank you for making this video to help me learn more!

lately, I had felt lost in terms of having a career, scared of being thousands in debt from a college education, and sticking with a dead end retail job until I knew what I wanted to pursue. I recently found out about this career field, and upon further research, I found your videos. As an independent worker and massive introvert, I feel like this would be a great field for me! Thank you for making these videos, I feel much better about taking this path now that I have a better look inside. Keep doing what you do! <3

I love this! I just enrolled in school for medical billing & coding. I have always been interested in the medical field but my personality type fits being behind the scenes so to speak. I want to help people but I get too emotional around sick people. Lol watching your examples made me super excited and I’m very happy I decided to finally go for it. I’ll be binge watching your videos soon lol

I'm looking to become a medical coder myself. This video was helpful in introducing me to my field of interest. I know some reports will be a bit complicated but I know I can do it. All I gotta do is try.

I graduated and earned my billing/coding degree back in 2005. I coded for a dental office for 4 years then decided to go back to college and became a Sonographer. 6 years later, I'm wanting to get back into billing/coding. I feel like I'm starting from scratch. Thank you for these videos. They are extremely helpful!

I stumbled upon this, I want to thank you. I have worked in healthcare for over 20yrs. i can no long continue in the field I was in so I want to see if I could do something else at home. SO, this is great. So the main idea here is that you have to get proficient with working those books, getting to know those books to find those codes.

Medical coding is a good career. I took this course in school but I didn’t took the exam and I wish I could. Right now I would have a good start in my life. I went for nursing but is so tedious! :( I am trying to survive and become a Nurse. I just wish I could have done coding. Do your research okay.

I feel very welcomed just reading other people comments, I think we all are in the same boat. It is super nice learn and improve together. I decided to get into the program because I had my second child and the world is not socially the best, so, I want to be more time with little ones without losing my financial independence.

I've learned more about this job in 30 seconds through this one video than in 2 months of schooling. Sounds dumb but true

I’m actually really shocked how much I’m interested in this. I’m usually scared off by the word coding, but this is different. I like that there’s a reference to use. I was about to throw myself into cyber security but I think this is much more suitable for me.

I appreciate this video! I've been having a hard time making ends meet, and my dad (who is a healthcare lawyer) suggested medical coding to me. I had no idea what it was and didn't want to waste money on classes for something that I wouldn't do. Thank you so much for the demonstration.
