The ONLY Way to Mount a Monitor on Your Camera!

This is the only good way to mount a monitor on top of your camera! I've seen some pretty bad rigs over the years with monitors mount in the most top heavy and strange ways possible. Avoid using magic arms and cold shoe mounts whenever possible--they always end up spinning or slipping off.

There’s no rules to how you should customize your rig, that’s why there is so many options. Do what is comfortable and functional. It’s yours. Not theirs.

“Don’t use the cold shoe”

Proceeds to use fancy cold shoe

LOL. Big budget sets have magic arms dude. Your way looks nice but a magic arm is way more versatile.

I like to just let my monitor dangle by the HDMI cable.

"So low profile" the cold shoe took up less space

Walk onto a professional shoot and they're all using magic arm.

"yuck" is telling people to NEVER do something just because you find it ugly. if it works well it's fine. also, that arri locating pins and nato rails are usually so much more expensive then just hotshoe or screw mounting

Oh yeah, and remember, the way your rig looks is more important than how you take the shot. Never spend more time prepping/recording than making your rig look the coolest of them all. Good looking rigs equals you're the best out there. [Sigh]

I'm not spending 80 euros on a monitor mount. Magic Arms are industry stamdard and useful to get the monitor into multiple positions. I seldomly even have the monitor mounted on top (Usually shoulder rig (left side), or steadycam (side/behind vlock))

Lol, I’m a cold shoe mount on the handle guy… way to call me out. 😂

The last four cam ops I've seen for union have had magic arms for their rig lmao

Sure. smaller size camera, you can do that. But if you are working on a bigger set with bigger cameras, I suggest you use a magic arm. (Reasoning: bigger set usually will involve CA to help you pull focus beside you. Two monitors for you and the CA)

I love how he has just created a “that guy” problem out of nothing. It may be a clean solution but it is not nearly the most versatile choice on a set.

Don’t be that guy who doesn’t cage his machine.
