Getting mounted sucks, but these techniques and concepts help it to suck a little less. Far from a comprehensive guide to escaping mount, this provides a nice framework for getting out of this difficult position. I hope this helps. Let me know what you think.

I’m a martial arts instructor and I absolutely LOVED this video! Accurate, well articulated, not long winded, and great execution. Terrific resource! Hats off to you!

Me: "Oh that looks so easy! I will try that next time."

I am starting BJJ at my fiance's gym. His best friend is the instructor and he's amazing. Before I started I had to tell him that I was attacked by a male coworker and assaulted, violently, several years ago. I had zero ground game because I didn't know anything to defend myself with. Just kicked as hard as I could until he pulled a knife on me to make me be still. My coach is gently training me, only having me roll with girls for now. The last mount, the high one, makes me panic if I get stuck in it. THANK YOU for these. I won't forget them and it will help me get through class without a full-blown PTSD experience. Gratitude, sir.

I actually used the "pants off" technique last night in my BJJ class against a high blue belt (I'm a total noob white belt)... he was like "WHOA!"
of course... he was ready for it the next roll :-P
But it was super easy to learn (without practicing it first)... I just visualized it and went with it...  Great teaching! Great Lesson!

I know this vid is 5 years old and you’ll probably never read this but I just wanna say that this was super easy to follow and I really appreciate it. I’m finding BJJ difficult and this helped. Cheers.

Before u tube people learned the hard way and now we take advantage of using this valuable training of others years of hard work. This channel is real technical knowledge. Im a white belt and this training is saving me on the mats. The upper belts enjoy white belts because that tap means success. I don't worry about tapping my main goal is just passing the guard. This stuff works. I support this channel because years of hard work is mine when i have an extra 10 min. to press a button and train. I save so much money in gas and time. Its cheap insurance for survival. If your a white belt you can't afford not to.

I'm a white belt. My brown belt coach, great guy, loves to mount me into an arm bar. I know as soon as he sees I can defend out of mount, he will get me some other way, but we gotta start somewhere.

Thanks for the video. I needed it.

I'm a complete beginner...week three. Been watching videos to try to become more comfortable with the terminology and follow through of the basics we've been learning. I really appreciate this video. It's clear, in both word and action which helps me SO much. Now I just need a few hundred hours on the mats! 😆

I'm a 5 week white belt and I was able to do this last escape today in class! Thank you for such excellent teaching!

I like how this expands past the Gracie approved way of escaping the standard mount by capturing the posting limb and rolling the opponent in that direction. Another thing I'm taking away is the importance of having a good shrimp escape. Can't be lazy with those!

OMG THIS IS SUCH A LIFE SAVER, TEHSE PEOPLE WHO ARE WAY HEAVIER THEN ME ARE ALWAYS GETTING ME IN MOUNTS. THANKYOU!

What a coincidence. Yesterday, during class, I was taught the first two escapes . Today, I was browsing and saw this video. Love it.

The technique at 6:20 is called a Scorpion and it is effective if you're flexible. I've done it a few times in both gi and no-gi. I learned it on this video, thank you Knight JiuJitsu!

Seriously, you're a very gifted instructor. Being able to explain with clarity what for me is a topic I'm unfamiliar with as my martial arts background is from a striking base. Well done!

Great explanation! I’ve experienced all that on the mats except the last one. I love it when an experienced BJJ guy shows real stuff not just basic 101, etc

Tracing the arm back after a failed clamp to the chest... What a great move!
Thanks for sharing these techniques, and for yet another informative, articulate video.

When I watched the video I got amazed by the simplicity and the quality of the explanation and when I read a lot of comments I realized I am not the only one who is appreciating your effort thank you very much, greeting from Egypt
