Had cussed my partner out and blocked him bcuz he is so non-supportive. I asked for his opinion on my choices and he dismissed me and the names saying I “sound fucking crazy”. I’m still going through with the process and idc who I’ll offend. Starting a new life with a new government in a new environment.

Keiry is a beautiful unique name both in English and Spanish! Love it!

I did this to my daughter. Her name is Melina but I spelled it Milena, thinking I was doing something different, but like you said letters in Spanish are pronounced completely different. People have called her mi-lay-na or me-lena which aggravated me because it’s Melina in my head. I’m currently in the process of correcting the spelling but the documents are so confusing. I’m doing all this before she starts school she’s only 2. And I live in NYC as well, I hope the process isn’t long for her. I’d rather do it now than later 😌

I’ve called you Rita for so long that I completely forgot you spelled it that way but I’m glad you did it for yourself and feel free bc of it! ❤️ guess you gotta return that Necklace and get the new spelling on it lol

I'm Haitian and my last name is Valentin and I kind of felt cool because people couldn't say my name. However I grew up in a Haitian/Caribbean neighborhood so most people that I had to interact with got it right. People do misspell my name on certificates and stuff. Like my high school diploma says Valentine instead of Valentin.

I have the same exact problem. My stepdad is Puerto Rican and put “Annye” instead of Annie. It’s so embarrassing. I’m planning on changing my name this year so thanks for your video!

Before I was born, my father thought of giving me a name which was Bruce because he thought it will be a relaxing, calm and a good name, but my mother did not give me that name because she gave me a name George from Georgia country, George would be a loud or crazy name, so I thought that Bruce would be a great name for me, so I would be or refereed to Bruce Marte instead of George Marte.

I just got my original birth certificate after 28 years! -- To get my original birth certificate it cost me almost $200 because my entire life I didn't go my the name spelled on my birth certificate (my mother misspelled it) and none of my documents matched the same spelling on my birth certificate- OMG, it was hell! Is there a fee to file a petition to see the judge for the actual name change? I'm only asking since I'm going there tomorrow and want to be prepared. Thank you!!!!

Can you change both your first and last name at the same time also can I just tell the judge I don’t want my name ? Is that a good response. Also the cost ? What about college diploma can I change that name as well

I’m Dominican as well and my reason is more of wanting to change my fathers last name to my mothers last name. I never knew her and feel like I’d want to Honor her as God saids to Honor your parents I’d carry my Fathers name that I have and my mothers I’ve been thinking of it for so many years if it was right decision, but I think I now know this is what I want. I spoke to my dad about it before and he said he didn’t care much but he thinks I’m being ungrateful but it’s not that I feel like so many people disrespected me in my life and I’ve turned to God I want to be born again and be a new with carrying my mothers last name since it’s all I got of hers.
