I've tested the side by side panes feature, at the beginning - it was nice, but the panes should be sticky (it was so easy to close them by mistake). Overall, the direction is good, but I had to disable this option (productivity issues, too many clicks, not easy to reorder fields in tables, field names not fully visible).

So helpful! I've been missing the sbs panes.

I feel the number of clicks has increased with new on-object editing. For example, if I want to add a measure to the tooltip of 3 separate visuals, previously I just click each visual one by one and add the tooltip measure. Now I have to first click a visual, select "build visual option", and then add tooltip measure. Hopefully, this will get improved in future.

Great tips and tricks on this one. I haven’t seen the on-object editing yet but now I feel prepared. Looks like it is setup to keep more space for the report itself which is nice.

Thanks Adam. No idea about it. I have been using it since it was released last month and I haven't spotted it. Honestly, the new UX it's not intuitive and 100% user friendly. I was expecting to have this for ages, something like in Power Point and Excel visualization, but this version is not like those.

Another issue is when a field or measure breaks into the visualization it's not flagged. Before, when that happened it was easy to see because it was flagged and on the Data Pane was marked. Now, I need to check one by one.

Following PPT and Excel UX, here in PBI I have to spend more time clicking and searching where the things are. I would expect a real right-click mouse UX without having to open the entire pane to do the updates.

Hi Adam, this new feature is a game changer ... Have to update all my trainings, online courses and books now (summer's dead ...) :)))
I have 2 questions for you :
- when do you believe this is going GA ?
- I haven't yet found how to change columns order in a table (I mean, going from columns ABC to columns BAC) : any tip ?
Thx as always !

Thanks for the video, I love your stuff! Question - when using this new feature, how can you turn off using date hierarchy in the axis? The on-object "build a visual" pane does not give you an option to not use the hierarchy. Thank you!

I might not see this. But before you could click dropdown on the metric to select average/Sum/Mean etc. that is gone and I can't seem to find how to do it. Do I have to always use a measure now?

Where did the Analyze pane go? I can't add a constant line after I turn on the "on object interaction"?

Where can we place the DrillThrough fields?

Date hierarchy still can't be disabled from on object visuals, hopefully coming soon though!!

I like the new place to select new visualisation. It always creates a new one - the old visualisation always changed the visual that I had most recently clicked on. No more clicking on whitespace just to prevent that.

We really need to fields pane to be locked/pinned. The on-object version of the fields pane is insufficient. It's too narrow, cant see full field name, and requires way more.scroll. More pain for larger, enterprise models with many tables and fields.

This object editing option is not that user friendly

This is a terrible feature. It eliminates the ability to develop muscle memory for developers about where to do something. Now where you do something is split between the visual and the legacy menu on the right. And the visual menu moves all over the screen with the visual. Really a step back towards making this a analyst reporting app instead of a professional developer’s tool.
