Been shooting my MK5 RC 30-378 for years.. unbelievable caliber! Tack driving Hammer! Never had a single animal take a single step after being hit, dropped in their tracks. Didn’t buy it for target shooting... strictly hunting.. love it! Only other caliber I truly like shooting is the 257 MK5 RC..

Just thinking that the 338-378 might be a more efficient use of the powder capacity. Then again having extreme velocities with lower recoil might make it a better choice so long as you don’t shoot it too frequently or don’t mind replacing the barrel.

At one time it was considered one of if not the most accurate calibers in the world and the military almost adopted it...I cant remember why they did not. If I were to need to move up from my .300 Weatherby mag I think this or the 338/378 would be the ticket.

The new Backcountry 2.0 Carbon is clambering the 30-378. Definitely thinking about it but will probably go with the 300. Great work RW 👍🙏✌

I think Weatherby should offer a wider range of twist rates on their rifles. Would allow for greater flexibility in handloading. Especially for calibres like this one and it’s big brother.

Hello my name is Danny from Portland Oregon and I just bought a kristensen ridge line on 30 nosler, which is really good for me, but I want to know what’s the barrel last longer of it? Thanks 🙏

I go by powder burned. 100 grains of powder needs 30” of barrel. Plus the chamber. To get full potential out of that case you would need a minimum of 34” barrel. Im doing a 338 lapua AI and i have a 35” barrel for it

Would be interesting to compare the .30-378 Wby's MPBR for different bullet weights, including the 150 grain, which, in terms of ballistic coefficient is comparable to the .257 Wby's 100-grain bullet.

What’s the recoil like? Shopping for a not so popular caliber for elk!

I personally have no use for a 30-378 but if you can handle the recoil and expense of owning and shooting one. I give you an atta boy! In my youth I would have thought of it as the ultimate long range game getter. Many years and thousands of rounds of various cartridges and guns loaded and fired , I think differently. The likes of a 250 Savage or 257 Roberts look better every day.

After watching this video I kinda wonder if the 30-378 is really worth all the extra costs? I have a 300 wby and it’s got a 26” barrel so performance wise isn’t much off from a 30-378 really. Especially with the amount of powder burned to gain the velocity. The 300 prc is on my radar as a potential but I’m kinda leaning toward a 28 nosler. What say u on the 28 Nosler? And thanks for the input I love the videos

Out of curiosity, why would you not zero at 100yds? The purpose behind doing so is that every elevation correction is up or a “hold over”. So whether it’s inside 100 or past it, you are never having to dial down or hold under.

I have a 31" barrel with 1:12" twist for bullets up to 180 grains.

That is really quite a caliber, I bet that thing kicks pretty hard.
