Or just buy Shout Advanced grease busting foam. Spray it on, wait 10 minutes and rewash it. It takes out most oil stains even if they've gone through the dryer once or twice. Just don't spray it on and leave it there more than 10 or 15 minutes or it will take the color out of your fabric. Spoken from personal experience.

I just tried this on 3 white shirts. Totally destroyed them. Giant WD40 stains now, instead of little oil stains.

This worked so well!! They were bad (bacon grease) and are completely gone now. I made sure to scrub the toothbrush in another bowl of clean baking soda so it would be clean each time I scrubbed a new spot. And used a ton of extra baking soda and rubbed it around with my fingers for a few minutes too too. My shirt was dark green and idk the material but it's time and tru (Walmart) probably cotton or cotton poly blend. Also I used just a teeny bit of wd40 barely even wet the fabric with it. I had this shirt for months in my closet because it's my favorite go to concealed carry shirt I couldnt get rid if it. Thanks so much.

This works really well! I've now used this on a sweatshirt and a winter jacket that had motor oil and diesel stains respectively.
The only thing I'd add is to be careful because some fabrics will pill if you rub too hard with the toothbrush.
My jacket is thick and can't go in the wash. For that, I followed the video but didn't use the dish soap. Once I was done with the baking powder I just scrubbed the section with a wet toothbrush a couple of times then immediately used a wet/dry vacuum to remove the excess water.

Tried this on a beige Nike Sweatshirt. It took out most of the oil stains but there was one that didn’t come out. It honestly just depends how much you scrub with baking soda. The WD40 didn’t ruin anything, you just have to apply the baking soda a lot of times! I would post pics to prove it if I could! Trust the process ! If I had time I would go back and repeat for the stain that didn’t come out, I’m sure it would. I also washed with hot water and oxi clean detergent cause why not haha

You never throw a freshly stand oil shirt in the washer... Either use cornstarch or baby powder.... When it first happens.... It'll absorb some of the oil.... Dawn/OxiClean/carbonated Will get oil stains out....

Saw the no of problems highlighted here with using WD40 so I'm guessing this is a very strong product. Actually, I've been using a squirt or two of dishwashing detergent, then a tspn baking soda and scrub, with layer of cupboard below clothing and it works - no need WD40 at all!

Hello @lalalisette
I would like to thank you much for your tutorial because you just saved my brand new TAD GEAR Recon RS tactical trousers from being thrown away!
I have stained them badly with (I think not so sure 😅) WD-40 or some other oily stuff, when I was working in my garage and I didn’t notice it until I was home! I tried to scrub them with olive oil soap and washed them right after that (done this for a couple of times) and it didn’t work out at all.

A week after I saw your video tutorial, I followed it exactly like you explained and now I’m the happiest guy on the planet 😂😂😂

I have my fancy tactical trouser like new !!!

Thank you soooo much ❤❤❤

I saved your video for the future, you never know it might happen again 🤭🤭🤭

I have always tried your method on trousers and also lately on a jacket made of cotton with clear colors and it worked perfectly fine. I’m wondering if it would work in removing sunscreen cream yellow stains from a white shirt. Any ideas ? Thanks

In an office, I believe the worst stain is the ballpoint pen (bic) as it's oil based ink! Not like most gel and roller ball pens as most are water based like fountain pens!
Now most _"car"_ stains are oil based, even the sump oil has detergent in it to indicate there's water present - shouldn't be - thus should be easy to remove than other car oils/grease!
