Kitchen gadgets - useful or not? That’s the big question we’ll be asking ourselves in today’s episode! Have a watch to see what Jamie thought when he tested and reviewed a selection of kitchen equipment… including a ‘smart’ indoor garden!

You can find out more about the gadgets we've reviewed in the links below. It's great how excited James got when Jamie was eating the salmon

You should do a video where the chefs make high quality dishes with nothing but useless gadgets

When reviewing this pans, it would be great if in 6/12 months, you did a update on how they're lasting!

I'm a devon based blacksmith (bladesmith primarily), and if you guys are ever interested in having a knife or two made free of charge for the studio or for an episode of the kitchen gadget reviews, I'd love to be able to do that for you!

the look on James' face when Ben said "double ribbed design"! PRICELESS

They didn't mention the most important and useful aspect of a vacuum sealer: Food Storage and Preservation! Frozen meats and food last way longer vacuum sealed than any other way. Most places recommend up to a year for a lot of meats. Buy meat in bulk, cut into portions, and vacuum seal. It's great. Come home from work, pull steaks out of the freezer, pop them in the water bath, and then by dinner time you have perfectly cooked steaks that only need a sear.

Ben: "Are there things you'd love to invest in and have in your kitchen to take your skills to the next level?"

Me: Counter space lol

God bless Ben. He seems to be one of the most humble guys ever. He doesn't mind all the trash talk they throw at him, and he just has so much knowladge.

I love the joke of the really small cloches, but how about having a comedically huge cloche for a really small item

I'd love to see a video where Ben and/or James show us how they sharpen their knives, season their pans, etc... Cheffy kitchen skills!

10:33: "It heavily reduces food waste."

Yeah but food waste is mostly recyclable/biodegradable, Plastic is a hazard. There is a reason why most states are trying to do away with plastic bags in stores.

I couldn’t afford this stuff, so I found alternatives: such as reusable sealing bags that the air is vacuumed out by hand. Perfect for sous vis, not so much for storing things long-term (since the purpose is to use and reuse often).
For the garden, I have a gallon tub from the dollar store with a lid and baskets for an impromptu hydroponic system (air stone not included) and purchased a $15 hanging LED grow light. So I spent a total of $20 on the soil, light, container and spent another $20 for an air stone + air pump. I have delicious basil and strawberries now! These products are meant to take the DIY out of gardening, which is very much a part of the hobby/lifestyle.

I have an anova wand and a non-anova vacuum sealer. It's so great. As far as the bags are concerned. When I cut them open, I cut close to the seal. I wash and air dry them. I can get 2 - 5 uses out of a bag. It reduces plastic waste and overall cost.

At no point did I think I’d be watching Jamie name plants instead of sleeping.

Yet, we’re here.

12:00 "It is sleek, isn't it?" I love how you can hear how much interest and love that James has for that pan just by the sound of his voice. He's such a well right dude. Love him to death.

The fact Jamie didn’t name the basil “Baz-il” really feels like a missed opportunity

I must say, I am very impressed with Jamie's comments. They were pointing real problems and facts that we, normal people, have to think about. Good job! It's always a pleasure to see your videos 😊

Oh and btw Ben, we really need to teach you how to pronounce Feuille for the Mille Feuilles haha ❤️

I love it whenever jamie tries all these stuff cause he always raises questions that really matters to the masses. As a viewer, I like how it is entertaining while at the same time raises valuable and practical discussions. Job well done boys!

James: I don't know when he finds the time to learn all these facts
Ben: *embarrassed, boyish grin* I read the same thing you did!
Marry me, Ben. You're too damn adorable.
