Scotty Kilmer: "Stop buying Toyotas and buy Toyotas"

I've owned that exact car (same color and everything) for 16 years now. It's a tank- I think the only thing that I had to repair is the exhaust and the altenator. It starts first time every time! Probably the most reliable car I've ever owned. With the seats down, the rear has about as much room as a small pickup truck :) Great in the snow too.

On the minus side, it's severely underpowered and strains on the highway. 0-60 is in the 10-12s range. There's no traction control, and the rear brakes are drum brakes, so brake performance isn't the best.

Own one since 2009, basically a yaris suspension and chasis. With a corolla engine, cheap maintenance. 180, 000 miles. One water pump, changed it myself. 1 clutch change . 35mpg average ( puerto rico streets) full tank gets about 300 miles, manual . No leaks, love it .

Small inside but great for students, really easy to park. Interiors really well built, easy to clean . Regular wash inside and out takes like 1 hour or less. Rear seats drops down and you have plenty of cargo space when needed. Best daily driver I've had really reliable. Just test drive it if you're a tall person .

I have a 2010 XD with 268k miles. I have driven the car everywhere and it's given me no problems. One time I had the wrong size tire for a few months...no issues...except it drove crazy. Everythings work perfectly! Great car!

I had a scion xb and had 250k on it and it would be still running if I didn't hydro lock the engine. The oil leak on some were a problem with the rings. My engine had the problem and Toyota paid for the engine replacement.

Thanks Scotty. I was looking at one of these for sale and decided to buy it after watching your video. It's a great little car.

I love the Scion xD so much that my boyfriend and I BOTH bought one! The build quality is amazing for something that was meant to be a bottom base econobox!

My 2010 xD manual has 204k+miles on it. Runs like the day I bought it used with 41k on it. Generally 38 mpg highway... I love it!

My 87 Celica was rated at 35MPG highway, but I would consistently get 40MPG when taking long interstate trips through non-congested areas. That is still considered pretty good 35 years later.

I have a 2006 Scion xb at over 318, 000 miles. It's burning oil, and the transmission is going, but it's hanging in there. It's been a great vehicle. Just dying to upgrade soon.

I bought an '08 Scion xD back during the Cash 4 Clunkers debacle. Currently have 270k on the engine and it still runs like a top! One thing though, that 2ZRFE does like to have bad water pumps. I've replaced mine twice.

One of my friends has worked for Toyota for 20 years. A few years ago, when they announced cancelling the Scion, they offered a limited edition where they only made 600 something in a limited edition trim. Being an employee of Toyota, he gets a pretty nice discount on a new car every few years. He had bought his wife a new Toyota minivan a few years ago and the anniversary date of his discount just happened to come up, so he bought one of the limited edition models. He's a big guy, too, weights more than 350. He flip flops between an older Chevy SIlverado and his Scion as his daily driver. It's a spectacle to see him get in and out of it.

I always learn something new from you Scotty. I recently replaced my iridium plugs, I put anti-seize on them. Car wasn’t running right, so I pulled my plugs again and one of them was very loose! Thanks for the solid advice as always

I usually start up my 2013 Prius and use the power mode which uses the battery and the 1.8 L engine it laid rubber because I needed to get into the traffic, I only use the power mod for maybe 5 minuets then go back to the ECO mode; what a car over 170, 000 miles and still runs like new without any problems, Thanks Toyota

I bought my daughter a 2009 Scion XA for graduating high school. She drove it all through college. I changed the oil with Mobil 1 every 8000 miles. She put over 200, 000 miles on it. No problems. It was a great car.
