I love Toyota but they had some years and models you shouldn't buy. The Camry, Rav4, Corolla, Solara and some Scions are affected.

I just did the berryman piston soak on my scion xb which has the same engine with 125k on it. I went from burning at least a quart every 1k to 1/2 quart in 3k so far. I didnt think it would work but so far so good. Even if i have to do it every couple years it would be totally worth it.

i just bought a 2009 camry se I4, 132k miles for 7k cash. near mint condition inside and out. i love it but will definitely keep an eye on the oil

Camry 2007 380k engine failed once and got swapped running perfectly now

The non VVT-i engines in the late 90's and early 2000's were bulletproof. They really screwed the pooch on the later models. Plus they were a non-interference engine so if the timing belt breaks it simply stops running and doesn't bend the valves.

I believe that all 4cyl Camry’s from 07-11 suffer from oil consumption not just the hybrid version.

As long as you keep a eye on the oil level these will run forever the true worst engine made by Toyota is the diesels

Meh change your oil and drive them. Many cars with that engine that hit well over 200k.
