She's absolutely right, once I was debt free my attitude changed. Now the money I earn is for me. Of course I still have bills but it brings back the shift in power for sure!

We started late (after 2 foreclosures and BK), but hubby (67) and I (56) are now debt free (except mortgage) w/fully funded EF! No retirement (except minimal SS), but we've been able to help our (grown) kids reduce their debt (low interest loans to pay off CCs + med expenses) and the last couple yrs I have been working toward 'doing the work I enjoy' (caregiving, tutoring, coaching and gardening mostly) and God has been supplying our needs 😊 Simplifying has allowed me more time to help others (and still have income) w/o being 'chained' to a JOB.

I find the cost of healthcare is keeping me in the corporate rat race when I feel called to other opportunities that may not provide benefits

I look forward to working for NOBODY, not just settling for working for less of a jerk.

I think it’s the opposite, when you’re in a hole you start thinking outside of a box. Hardships push you to the edge, yeah being in debt is not good but it tests you

After you become debt free, you still have bills to pay.

After I become completely debt-free, I still owe the government hundreds of thousands in taxes because Uncle Sam doesn’t like successful people.
