Throughout history, we humans have devised countless techniques for remembering large amounts of information. Before computers, books, note-taking, or even writing was invented, humans were still able to remember a surprising amount of what they learned. This video is dedicated to exploring both the neuroscience behind why this technique works so well, and how to apply it to today's schoolwork so that you can ace your exams!

🙏 Thanks for watching!

It's hard to remember things like the pathophysiology, relevant signs and symptoms, tests to order, treatment or management for disease x, but once you see a patient with disease x then it all becomes much easier because you remember the patient. The great Osler once said something like the person who studies medicine without books sails an uncharted sea, but the person who studies medicine without patients does not go to sea at all.

10mins of facts with no bullshit, just two people who know what they are talking about. Great video and looking forward to more.

Please do a follow-up video on this doing an example (step-by-step) on how to do this! I'm really curious how to use this in other medical topics and lectures.

Super interesting video. The idea of visualisation and storytelling is something I have accidentally utilised before, but I have not tried to implement it regularly. Something I will use moving forward. Thanks Mike and Matty!

Awesome video. My struggle is how to do this with material that is hard to make into a story, like words that sound like gibberish and don’t remind you of anything that you can turn into a picture, or things like immunology molecules that are just letters/numbers combos. Can you do a video with these types of examples?

learn it like a story
a good story will include many changes that the main character/s undergo/es
make a mind palace part of your story
the more emotionally invested you are in the story, it's memorable and exciting and motivational (7:00-7:22)
the more relatable the mc and the struggle of your story, the funner and more motivational it is

All the things that you talked about in the video are awesome.
I have studied from many teachers in my life, but there is only 1 teacher that successfully applies all this; my maths teacher.
He teaches highschool students & I can guarantee you that no one can teach maths (especially calculus) better than him.

Next two weeks is my last exam as a medstud, (I mean this is my last semester as a preclinic medstud so next year I"ll graduate and become a coassistant)
and I wish I can do the best for that... Wish me luck guys

I feel a bit scary bc I had a bad score in my 3rd year of medstud, so that memory always haunting me says that I'll get a bad this time, but I hope it wont happen :"D

I hope I"ll get better this time 😭 bc this is the last
