Nothing is more Midwest than printing a digital Christmas card to put on the fridge

I was literally out getting food the other night, a guy thought I said hi to him, he shook my hand, then realized it was the people behind him who said hi lmao. Welcome to the Midwest. Shook hands with a stranger to avoid an awkward conversation Lol.

the you betcha guy... I'm ded! When I used to work at Meijer, I loved overhearing these awkward conversations. Best Midwest conversations ever! This one needed a few more "yeah... no... but..."

I was once sitting in a pub, and a guy walked past me. He pointed at me, and I pointed back at him. He sat down, we talked, and we became great friends. About six months later, we realised that we hadn't known each other at all before that night and had both been too polite to say so. I'm still friends with him now

A nice old couple recognized me at the store, asked me how my uncle John was, how my sister is doing in school, etc. I don't have an uncle John, or a sister, and I've never seen this couple before, but I made sure they knew they knew all was well.

I once had someone who effectively disappeared during middle school pop up at my house after my high school graduation. "Hey, AZ." she said. I didn't recognize her whatsoever.
"Do I know you?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm Larue." she replied.
Suddenly what few memories I had of her existence just smacked me in the face. I felt like I was seeing a damn ghost.

I'm terrible with names and warn people up front that if I forget their name it's not because I don't care I'm just bad with names. I remember faces and other stuff pretty well, but I forgot the name of someone called Guy.

Yup. This is me and my sister. Our Mom remembers almost Nope.
Had a lady say hi to my sister asked how everyone was and other stuff that only people who knew us at some point. Had no idea who she was. Came home and told Mom about, and o'steel trap stayed that we went to her church a couple times something in the neighborhood of 15 yrs ago! No wonder we had no idea who she was! We where still kids and have no idea how she recognized us!

This is like me at work. Always running into ppl who've left my dept. They remember me, me standing there thinking 'they LOOK familiar' as I make small talk

It happens to the best of us! 🤭
Especially embarrassing if you think you know who it is and start trying to "catch them up" only to then realize it was an "ope" kinda moment! 🤦‍♀️ 😁✌️❤️🦋🙏
