I've been vegan for nearly 17 years.. I've tried dating non vegans and it never works.. I've finally just accepted that I'm not attracted to people who think it's OK to hurt animals.. and I'll probably be single forever

If I ever settle down again, I prefer to be with a fellow vegan.

1000% with the brunette here! I have dated non-vegans, and it just doesn't work for me on the long run. I haven't find a partner yet, and I am okay in being alone. I am not going to lower my standards, can't, too late for me. I value harmony and integrity in my close people. 💚

My wife was Vegan, I wasn’t. Took me years to see the truth & turn Vegan. Shame on me. I regret deeply not going Vegan sooner. I have apologized to her for that. I dunno how she put with me eating meat 😢 back then. ´Cos ironically enough, I could NOT now

My partner & I changed together. We have same values.
Today i could not be with someone who’s values are not aligned with morals

Just the thought of kissing someone who has eaten someone's corpse is sickening !

Ha, ha - one carnivore I went out with asked me what I was eating. He didn’t recognize the food. I told him it was vegetables 😮 🤷🏻‍♀️

My wife was vegetarian when I met her. Through our journey together I learned a lot about nutrition, causes of climate change, and the treatment of animals. I converted from omnivore to plant based 5 years ago and my wife also made that change by giving up eggs and dairy. We are both happier, healthier, and no chance of going back.

Vegan 35+ yrs. Not interested in a meat eater. I agree that you should both share the same values for animals and the environment.

Kissing though? I couldn’t ever think about kissing someone after they eat non-vegan food. Ew gross.

There is no vegan or whole food plant-based people anywhere near where I live unless they're a college student. I'm like the only one for Miles who actually don't eat animals.

I’m so glad my girlfriend is vegan like me 🌱

Desiring your mate to embrace your same dietary choices is not cultish. It’s called being equally yoked.

How can two dwell together if they don’t agree. It’s not impossible, but it does create challenges.

I'd say, don't judge someone too harshley at first.
My first date with my wife, she ordered a veggie burger (she wasn't wasn't vegan, or even vegetarian, she just liked veggie burgers), and I said, "if God had intended us to not eat animals, he wouldn't have made them out of meat." She still married me.
Then many years later, I watched forks over knives, 8 years ago, while she was out of country. I emailed here and said, "yeah, sorry, I'm vegan now".
She replied, "it's about time".
I've been vegan ever since, and she went fully vegan a few years after me.
It's not a out trying to find the right person. Those people don't exsist. It's about finding someone you want to share the journey of growing old together with.

Vegan since '79. Have mostly dated vegan activist women. My ex-wife was vegan when we were together. Overall, it's difficult finding a local, age appropriate vegan woman in whom I'm interested romantically. In the vegan hetero world, I think it's easier for vegan men.

I’m lacto-vegetarian vegetarian for both religious and ethical issues (if I suddenly became an atheist I still wouldn’t eat meat and fish and eggs and stuff). Since I don’t eat eggs I often get confused for a vegan and ppl often find that a bit ‘unmasculine’ but honestly I don’t care, and no way I’m getting married and coming home to seeing my wife chomping down on chicken or beef or smt. Insane turn off. I just don’t think I could ever feel true romantic love towards someone who happily eats (formerly living) animals.

Great conversation, I would now find it very difficult to have a serious relationship with a non vegan I think, I've taken a break from dating for quite a while so I'm not sure how I will approach this situation in the future, I would definitely prefer a relationship with a vegan. I've lived with meat eaters in the past and I just don't think I could do that again.

I agree, as a vegan, it’s a huge turn off to me when a man is not vegan. It’s one of my morals and ethics that’s a non negotiable for me. If you don’t believe all animals deserve freedom, life and not to be eaten and exploited - that is a huge thing for us not to have in common.
For me, as someone who doesn’t want kids, it’d be similar to being with someone who dreams of having 3 or 4 kids. It’s a huge life decision we ultimately don’t agree on.

The only man I’ve dated in my life who wasn’t vegan, was my ex boyfriend who was my highschool sweetheart.

I’m happy being a single vegan dog mom until that amazing person comes into my life. Why settle?

I am vegan my girlfriend isn't. But we make it work. When we are together she eats all my food, and she loves and enjoys it. When we go out though, she orders what she wants to eat. Which often includes meat. Does it bother me? A little, but she knows this and is working with me on it. Honestly she is so amazing, and recognizes my needs, it's easy to forgive her not wanting to fully adopt my diet. And she never judged me for it, and is the first to defend my diet if I am being bullied. What more can I ask for?
