Staying to yourself and improving yourself daily is life's greatest treasure. Your energy will draw the positive people with the right intention. I have zero time for part time people in my life and won't entertain them.

But you absolutely do not have to put up with other people's poor treatment of you. Sometimes enough is enough, and you have to remove toxic people from your life. You will feel so much better.

As for #3, it depends who it is. I had to detach from my mom all together or else I would just be disappointed and hurt all the time. Sometimes, you do need to go through the anger and hurt before you can detach. Otherwise, you will keep accepting bad behavior in your life.

I would say your life gets easier but not easy. Being around difficult people is a challenge even as a tolerant person, that's why a peaceful outlet to break from those stressors is needed.

So true. No use asking “But WHY do they not want to?”, no use making the other person a villain because they don’t value us as we value them. Just let them go and let a better person take their empty spot.

That is right, just remove them out of your life, otherwise you will be miserable all the time because they are who they are . They don’t want to change even though they will loose your presence in their lives. So be at peace with yourself and move on.

One of my friends struggles so much because of her anger and disappointment in others for not being who she wants them to be. It has caused heartache with her husband and children. And she has so few friends because of it. Very sad indeed.

Absolutely.

When going thru and finally divorcing, after 28 years, I had to 'accept the apology I was never going to get'.

All 3 of these were part of that acceptance.

Once I did that, my mindset and heart could go forward.

I could then spend my energy, efforts and brainpower on me and my future.

You can’t change anyone else - you can only change yourself. A previous co-worker taught me that and it took me a while to understand it and apply it to those difficult relationships.

So hard to accept any of these truths, but you are right. Don't expect them to work like you, or even care. Finally accepting these late in life.
