Lets not forget that Eomer was willing to be branded a traitor to protect the people of his land. He even rode back to defend and fight for Theoden after he outcasted him. He's not a jerk, he's just trying to do what he thinks is right because he genuinely cares

Eomer is actually trying to imply Eowyn that war isn't just valour, or glory as she assumes. It's horror, it's terror, it's fear and gore. It's not something to be glad to do.

"He would flee, and he would be right to do so."
The depth of that cannot be explored enough.

Karl Urban is perhaps the most underrated actor in the trilogy

Eomer is just a practical, seasoned warrior. His experience should be respected

0:55 That facial expression when he realizes she's no longer talking about Merry

He is not sexist or bully. He loves and respect her, he just tries to protect her and naive halfling.

When I was younger I always felt bad that everyone told Eowyn not to fight, but now I understand Eomer's warnings. She is under the impression that war is about valour and a glorious death but he's seen it all and suffers the after-effects. He just wants to protect her because she's all he has left

Why is everyone so mean against Eomer? He tries to protect his sister and  a Little Hobbit. He doesn't know much about the things Merry went through. And he's for sure not the only man in middle earth who thinks that a woman doesn't belong on a battlefield (she can fight, but she's not trained to fight in a battle).  So in this context I understand him...I don't agree with him, but war isn't about heroism or such things it's just brutal.

Merry looks like a kid and Eowyn like his mother

Eomer: "I do not doubt his heart, only the reach of his arm."
Gamling: "I gotta use that one someday!"

When you are a kid you think he is being condescending. When you are an adult you know he is the exact opposite. And to think he nearly lost her in battle as a result.

I love the sibling dynamic of eowyn a an eomer. They have great scene chemistry

I love Eomer here. He truly cares for his sister and Merry, despite the fact he joked about the reach of his arm. Clearly didn't want anything to happen to them

It's been more than 10 years and I have NEVER notices Legolas and Gimli hanging out in the back!

Oh, I have never noticed Legolas and Gimli in the background at around 0:40 this whole time.

Eowyn and Merry’s friendship was so sweet. He made her laugh and smile when she needed it.

I personally believe what Eomer is telling her is right. I'm sure he doesn't underestimate his sister's resolve, but at the same time, he's trying to paint the picture of what war is like, and as we are aware, it is horrible and ugly. He's not necessarily saying war is for 'men' (males), but just describing that war should not be exposed to the likeness of those who have not experienced it in the first place (Eowyn, Merry). At least that's how I've interpreted it.
TLDR; war is ugly, don't go to war.
