this is a full blown automotive teaching video, most if not all of the tuning adjustments i made to my project car were similar to the ones in this video. differentials, sways bars, spring rates, its crazy how a game where you drive a pinata float off a cliff you can also learn a real skill. subscribed, great video, get this man to 100k

If anyone wants to save all this info, I kind of got all the first parts together. Enjoy!

Differential
Rear accel- higher diff causes more oversteer
50-90% (the higher hp, higher diff)

Front accel- higher diff causes more understeer
10-50% on track (low track high rally)

Front and rear decel- higher diff causes understeer, but a bit can help rotation

Center- higher setting causes oversteer
50-80% (high track low rally)

Brake
Reversed, so
Front= more rear force (more stable, understeer)
Rear= more front force (less stable, oversteer)

Braking force (leave it as is)

Aero
Overall high= less speed, more grip, hotter tired
High front =oversteer
High rear = oversteer, but understeer if too high compared to front

Damping
Controls spring compression/extension
Bump stiffness = 50-75% rebound
High bump- slower compression
(Usually towards the low end of the scale in game)

High front setting- more rear grip
High rear setting- more front grip
Low front setting- more front grip
Low rear setting- more rear grip

(Base leave rebound and soften a bit bump)

Springs
Low front- oversteer
Low rear- understeer
Overall higher- more response, less grip

(Base usually a bit too stiff for 4x4 and fwd)

Height- as low as possible without hitting the ground

Antiroll bars
Affects body roll (entry + midcorner balance)
Low front- oversteer
Low rear- understeer

(Base go half soft on front and half stiff on rear for 4x4 and fwd)
(Leave as is for rwd)

Alignment
Camber = vertical angle
Toe= horizontal angle
Caster= suspension angle

Camber
Needs adjustment using telemetry- never above 0°,

(Base put a little less than the game, 1.8, 1.7 front; 1.3, 1.2 rear)

Toe
Very small changes
Fwd and 4x4 try .1 or .2 front toe out to give oversteer (if still needed also rear toe out)
Rwd try .1 or .2 rear toe in to keep rear stable

Toe out- oversteer, response
Toe in- understeer, stability

Caster
Between 4-7°
Higher caster- more camber

Gears
Bigger first and second
Try reaching end of graph

Tires
Controls grip, shape and temp
Higher = better response, but more sudden loss of grip
26-35 psi for track (1.8-2.4 bar)

Hoki FH5 Tuning Summary

Differential:

Rear Acceleration:
50-90%, scales with HP. Higher = more oversteer.

Front Acceleration:
10-50%, low on track builds, high on rally. Higher = more understeer.

Deceleration (Front & Back):
0-Accel%. Low = responsive. High = corner stability.

Center:
50-80, low on rally builds, high on track. Higher = more oversteer.

Brakes:

Balance:
Front = Rear braking force. More stable, understeer.
Rear = Front braking force. Less stable, oversteer.

Brake Pressure:
Higher = Quicker locking/ABS engagement.

Aero:

(Only important for A+ Class)

Higher = More grip, hotter tyres, lower top speed.
Difference between front and back can influence under/oversteer.

Damping

(Keep Bump at 0.5 - 0.75x of rebound)

Main Guideline: Increase stiffness on the end of the car that is not losing grip, or increase softness on the end that is losing grip.

Therefore, high front setting = more rear grip. High rear setting = more front grip.

Springs:

Low front = oversteer
Low rear = understeer

Stiffness can be affected by weight balance.

Ride Height:

As low as possible.

Antiroll Bars:

Low front = oversteer
Low rear = understeer

Usually at around 50%- for front, 50%+ for rear. Don't bother much for RWD.

Alignment:

Camber:
Negative camber is better for track racing. Drop a touch for base tunes.

Toe:
Toe out = Oversteer (Use on front in FWD/AWD for better grip)
Toe in = Understeer (Use on rear in RWD for corner stability)

Caster:
4-7 degrees.

Gearing:

Just match final drive for base tune. Lengthen 1-2 gears for high HP cars.

Tires:

26-35 PSI for track. Higher front PSI is better for cornering.

____

Final Tune:

Suspension:
Should be between 20-80%, try to avoid bottoming out.

Tyres:
Step 1 - Take a corner.
Step 2 - Ensure all outside tyres have negative camber.
Step 3 - Heat should be around yellow-transparent. Lessen camber if the temp difference is too high. Low pressure if middle is too high. Ensure optimum contact and heat.

Good racing, everyone.

Edit: Holy crap this game is so good. Solid 50fps, Mid-Low too on a 6 year old GPU. Wow.

I searched a beginner’s guide and didn’t expect a guide about tuning for 32 minutes

Who the hell thumbs down this? This guy is spreading knowledge to make our cars ride better in game.. guess some ppl don’t like that knowledge nugget lmao

I knew absolutely nothing about tuning compared to my 2 best friends who always knew everything about it since the earliest forzas. I sat here for an hour, and just finished writing 5 pages in depth (little diagrams for camber, toe an all.) with an actual clear understanding, about everything this guy mentioned. I am SOOOO better off now. Thank you SO much for taking the time, and having the patients to teach everyone everything you know! Looking through comments to get even more info but great job man fr fr! Subscribed👌😎

This video should win a Pulitzer.

It doesn't seem like a lot, but making some simple tuning adjustments based on this video took 15 seconds off my A-class Goliath time and completely changed the feel of the car I used.

playing with a wheel and being a bad tuner, i genuinely thought it was impossible to have fun with a steering wheel in this game. you showed me that there is hope. the game is so much more fun now!

I'm not kidding when I say this changed the whole game for me I've probably watched this video like 5 times while tuning. I had no idea the T menu existed and it makes this game so much better.

I just started getting into Forza and just completed my first tune of a 1970 Porsche 914/6. I kept it in C class and really love the way it drives. I've watched this video over and over and it helps everytime. Thanks for the great content!! I even published the tune I'm so happy with it.

what an awesome video! Tuning is an aspect of forza hardly utilised by the general playerbase, hopefully your guide motivates more people to give it a shot themselves instead of just downloading the top rated tunes... the work you do for this community cannot be overestimated!

I quite literally pulled out a notebook and took detailed notes of everything and left room for me to make my own notes of personal preference, this video helps me a lot in Forza and also in F1 since you can tune in there as well! F1 has some other tuning options like weight distribution which I was able to figure out on my own, I very much appreciate the video, I think you should make a Pt.2 video, make it longer and go into deep detail about everything

Wow it’s crazy how this could even teach somebody like me who doesn’t know anything but basic car maintenance (spark plugs, brake pads, oil, stuff like that) not only how to make some of my first tuning builds in forza, but also a lot about cars in the real world! Thanks for all of the work! You’re a fantastic teacher.

The is the best video I could ever ask for as a new “tuner” in forza, super easy to understand and consume. Thank you very much man!

Wow, even I got something out of this, and I am a supreme n00b when it comes to cars. I used my Audi R8 as my test build, and while I still have some tweaking to do, I'm already fairly happy with how I have it tuned now. Seeing how slight tweaks to things actually work in real time is super helpful as well. It'll take me a while to memorize how this stuff works, but having a general guide so I can do it myself and stop relying on other peoples tunes (and their terrible rim choices) is super rad. Gold star for you.

I have almost 100 tunes now, from RWD to AWD and ALL OF THEM got their final touch thanks to your info on damping, I never realized that they changed them that much.
Thank you.

This guide was freaking awesome!!! I never thought I'd be able to tune and and then I came across this today. Decided to give it a try. I watched everything in the video closely, tuning my car along with you. Worked on a Valhalla Concept tune for hours today utilizing everything here. Made a No Tune, Base Tune, and 3 After Tunes until I felt good about final tune version 3. I tested out laps on Playa Azul Circuit Pro Loop near The Goliath. No tune and Base tune had times of 54.34 and 54.29 respectively. Final Tune v3 lap was 52.88!!! I was able to shave off 1.4 seconds!!!! Thank you so much for this I am so much more into the game now :)

Haven't watched the entire video yet, but thank you for putting this guide out here. You're the main reason why I enjoyed tuning in FH4 so much. Keep it up!

I just want to say, I never got into tuning in any Horizon game, and I've been playing them since tuning became a thing. I never really understood it to a degree where a tune I made would make my cars faster, and usually just downloaded one. This video helped a ton! Keep up the good work, this may soon be my favorite channel!

Really appreciate the time taken to explain what everything means practically and the actual applicability of each stat (ie. when you'd want to adjust it). Also the pictures and in-game examples were SUPER helpful. Thanks a ton for the video!
