My total cholesterol went down 40 points—from 220 to 180–just three months into hrt. Even lower than when I was a vegetarian a few years ago! Thank you for this knowledge! My ob and primary asked me what I’m doing different (I’m already a healthy eater and very active), and I said I started taking estrogen! There needs to be more education out there!

Dr. Haver I am 64 and on HRT for 2 years it saved my sanity! However today I am having a Stress test and my Cardiologist whom I trust wants to start me on Statins as my cholesterol is 278. I prior to seeing this video have chosen diet and exercise to lower! I have downloaded this video and am going to present it to my cardiologist! Thank you for your very educational videos and I will continue to follow you when making very vital decisions going forward!!! Thank you!

Thank you so much for this information. I have used intermittent fasting. I lost the weight. As far as statins are concerned, my health got worse. I refuse to go on them.

My cholesterol started to spike after having kids in my early 40’s along with other perimenopausal symptoms. My diet exercise the same. My weight pretty much the same. My doctor said nothing about perimenopause she was pushing me to get on statin and I refused. Now im 47 and you’ve opened my eyes it’s my hormones!! I’m seeking a provider here soon to possibly start HRT. You said it can be good to start HRT during periM especially if I have symptoms. And with my elevated cholesterol this has been the biggest concern in recent years. Thank you Thank you Dr for advocating for women!!!

After my complete hysterectomy my triglycerides and cholesterol did skyrocket. Then, as soon as HRT was administered, it went to normal levels within a few months. Recently, I had a gap in my HRT, and the same thing happened.... What get me is that they withheld my hormones longer until I agreed to take statins. After I protested they drew a hard line so I said okay. Plainly stated... I am not going to take them. The way women are treated feels honestly criminal. I refuse to ignore the data of my own case. The doctor also spoke down to me in a chastising tone. Her demeanor reminded me of a mother who is upset because her child eats too much candy. She looked at me and frowned saying "I can't stay on them forever" it's honestly infuriating. She agreed to refill my estrogen the same day only to wait until my blood work returned. When I pointed out that my case goes against everything she was saying she acted like I was disrespectful. I am sorry but this is my body and they cannot blackmail me into taking meds by holding hormones over my head. I am not returning to her again, I refuse. I had normal levels for 10 years until my hormones lapsed.. that's not a coincidence.

I’m 67 and been on HRT since 2012. In the last 8 years my total cholesterol and LDL has gone up. I did a CAC score and it was 142. I also had the carotid scan and it showed a little plaque. My hormone doctor and also my pcp wanted me on a statin so I finally gave in. I’ve gained about 25 pounds in the last 15 years. I eat healthy, exercise and do weight training. I’ve been on high blood pressure medicine for 30 years too. I’m hoping if I can lose weight and eventually go off the statin.

can you talk about starting HRT in your 60's? I've heard it's too late at that point. My cholesterol has gone through the roof since menopause and I feel like I'm being forced to take statins now as 2 of my drs have just stared blankly at me when I bring up the data you've referenced. Feeling frustrated! (My diet is very well balanced as well as activity levels, very healthy, not overweight at all)

I'm sending this short to my PCP & Cardio docs because they have been trying to get me on statins for nearly 10 years which is when I went into menopause. And I'm sure they know this that menopause increase cholesterol and that the statins don't help women. I almost *ate traditional doctors because "most" of them are just legal drug dealers. But I love Dr. Haven and those like her that I've found on youtube.

They just reduced "optimal" again. 🤦‍♀️ I went from 166 total pre-menopause to 187 post. 😱 This is eating a VERY heart healthy diet.

Thank you for all of your content. I had breast HR+ cancer and am on anti-hormone therapy so hormone replacement therapy is not an option for me. Can you please do a video that discusses other options for women like me? Would love to hear about alternatives therapies that might be helpful.

My bad cholesterol was slightly elevated & my HDL was slightly low. My PCP brought up statin - I said I’ll drop the excess pounds & recheck me. Meanwhile after learning about the benefits of “evil” HRT, I found a gyn who supported me going on it. Will see when I have it checked this fall.

Hello. Thank you for all that you do for us women. I’m wondering what dosage of estrogen therapy is recommended to achieve normal lipids ? I ask because I am 55 now, not menopausal yet but transitioning and my lipid levels are high. I never had high lipids until a few years ago. Thank-you

If your patient is a DM2, do you prescribe statins? I would have to read that study.
