Moment you realized, 838 Strange is the one we needed for the entire film. To battle wanda.

Dr Strange accepted his execution because he already saw it with the time stone. The absolute point in time is Strange using the time stone to seek multiple universal outcomes, in order to defeat Thanos. 838 Strange’s only solution was to use the Darkhold; he did it to kill Thanos and save so many lives. Instead of Tony Stark like in Universe-616, Universe-838’s sacrifice to defeat Thanos is Dr Strange.

It took me a minute to see he impaled him on his own sword. Honestly, that sword as cool as it was, isn't automatically recognizable. Also, I wonder what they did with the stones on the gauntlet in this universe.

Based on this scene and the scene in the church at Christine's wedding, I had a theory that 616's Strange lied about there only being one way to defeat Thanos. One way was for Tony to sacrifice himself, but there was another way: for him to sacrifice himself and save the Earth but he chose not to take it because he didn't want to die.

Marvel could do something smart and strike two birds with one stone. Alot of people liked "What if..?", but wished it tied into the movies more. I hope what if season two explores this multiverse more, that would make their death more impactful too!

This scene made me question the whole Infinity War scene where Dr. Strange tells Tony that in many realities Thanos always won and he lost only once, after giving him the stone, Dr. Strange says: it was the only way; for some reason here, we can see that Thanos lost, showing us that Thanos lost twice now; This film had one job, but mocking Black Bolt and contradicting Infinity War was uncalled for.
