Dr.Strange actually never lied to Stark when he said, that he if he had to chose between Tony's life or the protecting the time stone, he'd protect the stone. Strange saw the only outcome that won against Thanos. He knew Tony was ultimately going to be the sacrificial lamb at the end. He wasn't protecting Stark, he was sacrificing him for a later time.

The sound effects used when the stone flew over to Thanos gave me the chills.

If Thanos was a little smarter, he’d have second guessed Strange, the guy who holds the actual time stone, knowing that he may have looked ahead into the future and this is part of a plan where they win. He wasn’t even a little suspicious of why he gave it up so easily for one guy.

The fact strange knew exactly what was gonna happen to tony and what he had to do, I feel bad for him for having to keep that secret

Thanos comforted Stark after he lost saying "When I'm done half of humanity will still be alive" as if to say you lost now but not all is gone, while a bad villan would say half of humanity will die because your weak

The fear and tension Strange must be feeling here has got to be immense. Any little fuck up, any slight mistake and it's over. He has to exactly follow a script he has seen to the minute detail. Initially, his movements are slow and hesitant as he knows he has to pin point the exact second of when to give it up otherwise Thanos will leave too early or too late and that future will be altered slightly meaning they lose. The pressure of that must be crazy. And then as the stone flies to Thanos, the expression on Strange's face is one of cautious optimism and intense concentration around 1:42. He is holding his breath in these moments because he is seeing what needs to happen.

Oh man, imagine how much Doctor Strange's guilt was eating away from the inside when Tony asked him why he surrendered the Time stone. He wasn't allowed to reply: "Because you're supposed to die in 5 years...".

1:11 one thing I never noticed was when Strange acquires the stone, the stone appears in front of a star. It's a neat little effect.
