Super easy to Construct and run a window AC all day long saving a lot in electric cost and staying cool. See Links below. This is just the basic wiring and more components can be added to make it safer such as a breaker between battery and inverter. You make the system as safe as you want adding more safeguards. We tell you what you will need to construct a system & where to buy the components & how much they cost. Building system can be used pretty much anywhere you have sunshine and hot days. Can find most if not all these components in most countries throughout the world. Diy solar projects with Pappa. Below are some products in the video and some of the other products I have used. I also listed links to upgrade to a mini split with Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries since there was a lot of interest in the comments to do that. We are an affiliate with SanTan solar and Signature Solar. We receive a small portion of sale when you click on the links below and purchase something. This helps our channel to grow and test more components and share the results with you. Thank you for watching our videos. Please Like, Share, Subscribe and hit notification bell as well. We respond to comments usually in the same day, usually within hours of comments or questions. Please check out our other 100+ videos.

F8nally! A straight forward, easy to follow video! Idk why all these people think you need to throw out word salad to explain something. So annoying

With this temperature this be a good investment to cool off at least a room on your house. Well done and thanks for sharing this idea.

I may go with lithium battery to save weight. This is a big help for me to try solar power, thanks!

Finally someone set out too simplify this stuff for everyone else instead of the tech talk that leaves you confused . Real nice job, jeep the videos coming, your helping us diy'ers in getting our stuff set up simply.

This is the way to go in a grid down situation. The 5000 btu is spot on. The smaller btu AC can keep a room cool/cold in the event the grid shuts down for whatever period of time, ie. no need to cool the house down, just keep a room comfortable and the fridge going for whatever reason, food or medical. We are inching closer to this where the power is out not for days, but maybe weeks. Well done and thanks for showing this. I'll be incorporating these ideas in my grid down plans.

Thanks for the video.
Electrical engineer here, you could use a soft start ac capacitor in order to reduce that starting current draw tremendously, because it seems your old ac does not come with one.

Get a little Mr Cool Inverter AC unit or a a Mr Cool or Diaken Window Inverter AC Unit and no surge to worry about. Great setup for summer or after a hurricane here in FL takes down all of the power lines for a week or more.

Try adding an additional capacitor to the a/c unit and it will lower the surge when the compressor comes on and help keep your battery charged. Also keep in mind that a modified sine wave inverter is not really good for running electric motors a better inverter will increase efficiency as well. Hope this helps you out.

Thank you for explaining the whole process for us that are new to solar and electrical stuff! I’m a new sub now. Glad I found you!

Wow!!! I can cool my shoe closet !!!🤣😂😂

The higher SEER units work REALLY well for this sort of thing, enabling a larger unit for the same effective power draw compared to older less efficient models.

Thanks for explaining all this, I’ve been trying to learn how to do something like this to run a chest freezer, and your explanations make it seem a lot less overwhelming.

one of the advantages of solar is the panels shade the roof where they are mounted, and that lowers your room temps too.

Need to mount the charge controller vertically so convection air currents draw cooler air in the bottom as heat is released out the top. It would also help to use some washers to stand it off from the board a little(1/4 to 1/2 inch) to improve the cooling a bit.

you did a really neat solar DIY set up. I have a Harbor Freight Inverter the only problem is it made my 5000 BTU A/C make a humming noise because it wasn't a Pure Sign Wave. But it did run my A/C esp. on startup. Now for an Inverter I'm using a Bestek 1000 watt Pure Sign wave inverter, and no more humming from the A/C. If you want to run the A/C inside without any worries of the battery exploding. There are plenty of Mini Lithium batteries out there that dont take up much space, and safe to use indoors. To keep your charge controller cool you can buy a small fan that plugs into the USB of the inverter. I keep one on my NOCO 5 Amp battery charger all the time.

WHERE do you find (higher power) used solar panels anywhere near this price. The closet I can find anywhere is 2-4x what you paid. Bring in south western there should be an abundance of panels somewhere local.

Have you considered adding a "soft start module" - it will reduce the surge amps significantly - not sure if they make one for a window unit but they make them for all types of HVAC units.
