I have this exact unit and installed it myself with no help. I am a 65 y/o woman. I watched all the YouTube videos I could first to help me which helped. I put it on a thermostat plug and it works perfectly. It's so quiet too.

Bought this AC last night, 12K BTU unit. Watched your video this morning, twice! Then followed it step by step and 1 hour later, this 50+ year old grandma had it installed, by herself, and cooling! Thank you so much for this video. Now on to see what else you can help me with! : )

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS AC
I am a 74 year old 5 foot three woman who installed this entirely by myself from pick up at the front door to carrying it to the dining room, putting together the bracket, fitting everything and installing. We were dying from the heat at 100° plus this is an unbelievable blessing, thank you Midea💗

This unit is great and super quiet. The best AC I've had in 20 years for sure.

With that said, these old ladies claiming it's an easy install are not being honest. Just go to the companies actual install video, and you'll see all the legitimate complaints about how difficult it is.
If you watch this guy's video closely (and he's sponsored by the company) he has to edit parts of his video and run to a hardware store and buy outside product just to finish his install.

The reality is this:.It's a GREAT AC unit that runs super smooth and quiet. But the installation of it is a mega pain in the ass.

The people who engineered this thing looks like they really thought out the whole process I’m extremely impressed

My 86 year old Dad and I just installed this unit using your video. Cannot thank you enough for the super helpful step-by-step instructions! With the 90 degree heatwave coming in this weekend, we got it done just in time. Thank you so much!!!

Just a little tip for anyone installing a compressor-based cooling device, which can include an air conditioner, freezer, refrigerator, or even a dehumidifier - it is important to let the coolant levels stabilize over 24 hours before powering it on for the first time. This means keeping the unit level in its normal operating position for a full day. If you had to tilt it to install it, or when you bought it, etc you will need to do this.

What happens if you don't? If the cooling device was stored on its side for even a few hours, you can end up with a coolant leak or a rupture in the lines. You can also fry the compressor. The potential damage varies depending on how far it was tilted and for how long. It may not seem like a huge deal but it's one of those simple things you will really only need to do ONCE (as long as you don't move it again) to ensure trouble-free operation.

Omg. I installed this unit with your instructions. If it wasn’t for your instructions step by step, I would’ve returned it. I’m a 46 year old young woman lol. I didn’t think I could do it but thanks to you, I did it. U get 5 stars excellent work!!!

This video is still a lifesaver during the Northeast heat wave of 2024. Thank you!

This video was x10 better than the actual video from Midea. Thank you so much! We installed our 12, 000 BTU last night

because of you and your instructional video, I was able to install my 10, 000 BTU Midea U shaped air conditioner within half an hour of starting. I am 54 years old, 5'3" 220 pound female and other than lifting the unit out of the box and onto the completed supports, I required no other assistance. If I'd NOT seen your video and tried to go by the instructions I probably would only have it half constructed. So, thank you very much. You helped keep a major DIY argument from happening.

I purchased a couple of 10, 000 BTU units from Costco a couple of months ago, and installed them in two windows that are on the second floor of our house. The installation was fairly easy, and no need to go outside at all. The only hiccup was that our windows are four feet wide so we had to make some adaptions by using a leftover piece of metal frame from an Ikea kitchen cabinet to extend the sliding brackets.

We moved into a 100 year old home with no vents and no AC. These units were a lifesaver. Super helpful also that using the app you can also shut the light off so at night you're not bothered by it! The units are shockingly affordable to run. I was dreading my electric bill the first month we used these, but I was pleasantly surprised - hardly a blip of an increase in cost.

I have had this installed for 2 summers. Here is my long term experience:

* Installation without drilling or screwing into your existing structure is possible, which is good since I rent.
* Measure the thickness of your window PLUS how far lift\grab handles extend out. I have almost no tolerance left for a thicker window or larger handle.
* The AC design accumulates more condensation and moisture internally than traditional designs. If uninstalling, have plenty of towels and a mop near by.
* The wifi cannot negotiate wifi networks that do not broadcast their SSIDs, so it will disconnect from a hidden network and stay offline.
* The plastic brackets used to hold the foam breaks easily.
* Purchase extra foam to block the gaps the metal brackets allow against your window frame.
* The included exterior support bracket may not be compatible with your window situation, it wasn't with mine as I have a large concrete ledge outside. Mine sits on large solid rubber pads made for planters.

You literally saved me hundreds of dollars with this video. I was about to have someone come install it for me and then I found your video and you made it so easy to follow that I canceled the appointment and installed it myself. Thank you!

Wow! I just want to say thank you! With your guidance I was able to install this unit by myself on a 4th floor. I’m a 29 year old female & one thing I love is being able to do things like this on my own! You made this so easy to do. Love this ac 10/10 recommend. Not even the actual Midea video was as helpful as this one!

I watch a lot of DIY videos. You did a superior job shooting this. Clear, concise and articulate instruction without useless footage, i.e. watching someone screw in a screw for 30 seconds or unboxing. I usually find myself fast forwarding in most DIY videos. Not yours. Thank you.

I've been buying AC units almost every year for 10 years. After I'd sworn off the window units because they were heavy and awkward to install, (I'm a widow) I then started buying the portable units. While they were an upgrade, the window designs were terrible. The hoses constantly fell out. Last year I purchased a Midea portable and they nailed the design. Only flaw, it's huge! However, I was so impressed with the company that I was willing to give this one a try. I just installed it with the help of this video, so thank you for that. After all these years, this is the winner. Not too heavy, easy install, great window design, and on top of all that, it runs quiet. I'm going to buy another one for another room.

I installed this AC yesterday by watching your video, by myself and in a 5th floor window. I’ve never installed a window unit before and it was a lot easier than I expected it to be!
The most time consuming part was evening out the outside brackets, only because my building has a stone window sill that’s uneven in the front and sticks out from the brick the bracket feet sit against. Because of this I couldn’t get the pin in the left bracket to go through all the way due to it twisting a bit in the channel while pressed against the window sill.

In case anyone else runs into the same problem, I realized you could unscrew the brackets from the horizontal bar that sits inside after I figured out what number hole they would need to lock in at. I easily slid the pins in while separated and then put the brackets back outside, screwing them back onto the bar while I held them.

After that it was a breeze! It’s super quiet and very cold, and I love that I’m not blocking any light with those flimsy plastic accordions on regular window units! My only gripe is not being able to close the window screen, since it’s blocked from coming down by the outside section. Bummed that I’ll need to keep the window closed on nice days due to bugs and the risk of my cats being able to slip through :(

Thank you for sharing this easy to follow, straightforward installation guide!

almost 2 years later and this video is still helping people with installation. I cannot read manual instructions my mind just has to actually see something being installed visually. thank you for making this video it was extremally helpful.
