Can You Use a Window Air Conditioner Without a Window?

How to modify a window air conditioner using a storage bin. To work inside of a garage or shop or basement. Including how to vent it out.

I have a plastic-sheet at the door to my AC is on a little cart, so I just wheel it up to the opening in the plastic-sheet and turn it on, it does a great job to cool down the room I am in. Of course the heated-exhaust is going into the hallway, but so what, as long as I have a cool room to be in when the heat is sizzling.

bro you are half way there, your ac is getting cold air from in the room and blowing it out the back. the sides and top of ac have vents that need air from outside to pass in and blow out the back. so basicaly you need 2 tubes not just one

It may be more efficient if you find a way to include the vents in the case with the heat you are removing at the exhaust. This way you are constantly cycling the same "cooled" air that exits into your room by way of the fan, then the cooled room air gets recycled into the foam filtered intake underneath the fan vents for a process that is always gaining efficiency. The heat from the compresor, condensor, fan motor, etc., exit the case vents so you are constantly adding to your heat I do believe...

Now it's less efficient because window ac units need the outside air to come in from the side vents. Others have mentioned something similar.

What size exhaust fan are you using? To pull the heat out the box
